Rumor log
To inform the package of SBC materials, Breakthrough ACTION utilized existing data and conducted research to identify barriers and opportunities to reduce vaccine hesitancy and increase uptake, with a focus on gender. The findings were used to inform a set of radio spots and community flip chart.
Social and Behavior Change Objectives
Provide accurate information about vaccine access, eligibility and potential side effects.
Build vaccine confidence, and address issues of vaccine hesitancy.
Inform communities about COVID-19 prevention practices, and address barriers related to vaccine acceptance
The COVID-19 flip chart was developed for Boma Health Workers to be able to provide accurate information to communities about COVID-19 prevention practices and to address barriers related to vaccine acceptance.
The phase one radio spots were adapted from existing spots and while phase two spots were developed through a co-design workshop. The co-design workshop aimed to answer the following, “How might we use radio spots to convince South Sudanese to get a COVID-19 vaccine shot despite the current barriers driving vaccine hesitancy.”
The radio spots address the following barriers to vaccination: 1) Safety concerns; 2) Complacency and apathy; 3) Skepticism and mistrust; and 4) Efficacy doubts
