Bulihan National High School’s BERT officers and members led the Batang Empowered and Resilient Team Training Camp for selected students from all public high schools in the SDO City of Malolos. This is after they have been invited by the DRRM Division Coordinator, Mrs. Mary Grace June San Pedro, and Save the Children Philippines in the representation of Ms. Razelle Garcia and other SCP stakeholders. The said event was held on April 17-18, in the year of our Lord 2024, at DJ Paradise Resort and Hotel.
On the first day of the training camp, they rolled out the three BERT modules of Save the Children Philippines that are anchored accordingly for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, chronologically named Learn, Survive, and Be Protected – Module 1 was presented by Justin and Vernalyn, Module 2 were presented by Xyrene and Candice, and after that, Qwncy, Tracy, and Mark presented the Module 3. There are also the funny and witty hosts of the training camp, James and Cedrick, both of whom are BERT from Bulihan NHS.
On the second and last day, they continued the unfinished activities and games from yesterday – happiness and the eagerness to be able to share the new knowledge that these aspiring BERT have finally learned were all visible in their eyes, especially that it implies to the current situation that we are all in where in these past decades, we are gradually experiencing drastic changes that affect not only our livelihood but our benevolence as people as well. The event was swimmingly concluded through the heartfelt message of the leaving DRRM Division Coordinator, Mrs. Mary Grace June San Pedro.
Surely and undeniably, Malolen-Youth are now a lot more ready and expert when, hopefully not, a disaster strikes.
