Batang Empowered and Resilient Team (BERT) of Bulihan National High School (BNHS), helped out in cleaning up the school after the typhoon Carina caused flooding in the school facilities. BERT came ready in action to help the teachers, volunteers and school utilities in preparation for the opening of the School Year 2024 - 2025, which will be on August 5, 2024.
On the first day, BERT initiated the “Hazard Mapping” of the both school grounds (BNHS- Main and Domsal Annex). Finding things such as mold on the ceilings, loose ceiling boards and nails and many more. They compiled all of the hazards and sent it to the School Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Coordinator, Eleanor C. Manabat and the School Head, Damasohng I. Educalan.
After the hazard mapping, they started to clean up the school clinic in BNHS-Main identifying the trauma bags’ contents and other items on their stock.
The second day came after the typhoon Carina, they spent the day cleaning a classroom and helping in giving the teachers their respective subject modules in BNHS- Main.
The third day came and they cleaned and arranged a classroom helping the teacher to arrange some books for the students,while the others were cleaning the classroom. The other members cleaned the clinic. After they were done cleaning they posted emergency hotlines in every room in BNHS- Domsal.
After three days of cleaning the organization Bert along with their advisers spend their weekends resting after cleaning both schools.
