This course was very interesting as we were taught different instructional strategies that would engage students in Biology. My most memorable lesson was the one on simulations as we experienced how games and simulations were effective ways to model certain biological phenomena such that students could explore and derive their own understanding. Other pedagogical tools such as ICT and data loggers were also introduced to help us plan high-quality and engaging instruction in the future. Finally, we also learnt about the different ways of constructing an argumentation task such that students understand the nature of scientific argumentation, are able to reason and argue scientifically as well as to develop their critical thinking, reasoning, communication and collaboration skills.
The assignment was to design a simulation and argumentation task based on what we have learnt.
