5 Week School Attachment Programme at Bedok South Secondary School (July 2016 - August 2016)
- Engaged in a project to increase the motivation in learning Biology for Secondary 3 Express students by conducting lessons on the Respiratory System using a new approach – Problem Based Learning. Frankly speaking, this was one of the most difficult projects I had undertaken as I was stuck as to how I could increase students' motivation when it sounded like a rather vague and iffy concept. Furthermore, I did not know whether it would be successful and truly beneficial for the students. Nevertheless, the Principal, Vice-Principals and my mentors Ms Denise Wong and Mr Samuel Goh were extremely supportive and gave me a safe space to try out PBL for the first time and to fail (for my first lesson) and try again, enabling me to learn lessons that I remember till today. The staff environment was also an encouraging and nurturing one.
- Attempted methods of “teaching and learning through inquiry”, CPA approach and differentiated instruction when teaching mathematics to Secondary 1 students
