Sergio R. Roiloa

I am Associate Professor in Ecology at the University of A Coruña (Spain). My research focuses on clonal plant ecology. At the present, I am mostly interested in understand the mechanisms underlying the processes of biological invasions. In particular, I aim to elucidate the importance of clonal traits, as physiological integration and non-local plasticity, to explain plant invasiveness. Currently, I use as model the invasive clonal species Carpobrotus edulis and Alternanthera philoxeroides. I have published 40 articles in international peer-reviewed JCR journals such as Journal of Ecology, Annals of Botany, and Biological Invasions. I have participated in 17 founded research projects (4 as PI), and I have collaborated with researches from different countries (UK, US, China, Portugal, and Australia). I am member of the Editorial Board of the scientific JCR journals Ecological Research and Flora, and I have evaluated research projects for the Spanish State Research Agency and the US National Science Foundation. I have supervised 2 PhD theses, and more than 25 Master and Degree theses.
