I am a biologist interested in macroalgae research. As a PhD student, I am focused on the phenomenon of "green tides."

Green tides are a seasonal phenomenon that in recent years is growing both in abundance and frequency. In the case of the Galician coast, they cause serious problems because they increase the mortality of the bivalves in the shellfish banks and, in addition, there is no adequate management of this resource aimed primarily at trying to reduce the problem and revalue the biomass that must be removed to avoid its harmful effects.

This thesis pretends to know in advance the current status and historical evolution of the problem of green tides and their management in one shellfish farmer guild of Galicia with the aim of describing the "green tides", space-time variations and methods followed for their control and management.
