Goal 11 - It aims at making human settlements more inclusive, especially for people with disabilities.
How is our project in coordination with these goals?
Giving everyone an opportunity to do what they love and a chance to express themselves through art forms like BHARATNATYAM, can help to reduce the inequality that many may face due to physical constraints. This is a step closer to achieving GOAL10 which aims at achieving equality for all.
Providing equal accessibility to learning this dance form professionally will also mean providing equal employment oppurtunities which is in line with Goal 8.
For our society to be inclusive for everyone as a whole, there should not be discrimination faced by any particular community when it comes to being able to get a stage to showcase their talent and skills achieved through pure hardcore. Reducing this discrimination faced by dancers with disabilities is a great step toward 'Inclusion for all' and providing 'Inclusive communities'
When we went for a site visit we also helped the children in the orphanage get an opportunity to learn Bharatnatyam. In the picture alongside you can see how they are learning the mudras of the dance form. When we asked them if they liked the learning experience , we got a very positive reaction accmpanied with wide smiles on their faces.
