Here is a piece to try your improvising skills.... this means just making up some music that you feel can fit with the backing... there is no right or wrong!
I have put some easy "riffs" (short phrases of music) to help you understand what to do. I suggest you put on the backing track, listen to it and feel the 4 beats in a bar. Then try Line 1, just playing D at the start of each bar.
Once you get the feel of this, try the other riffs if you like... watch the little video clips to see how to use them and where to put your fingers. Further down the page are videos showing you how to play D and E.
The music notes to read are below:
Cello:
Violin:
Viola:
Have fun playing along with some of the riffs written her or making up your own!
