1. Introduction
This policy establishes a centralized Research Registry (RR) for recording and tracking all research activities undertaken by faculty, students, and other personnel at BCMCH.
2. Purpose
The RR serves the following purposes:
Streamline research approval process: Ensure all research activities are registered before seeking further approvals.
Facilitate communication and collaboration: Provide a central platform to share research information and foster collaboration.
Promote transparency and accountability: Maintain a comprehensive record of all research activities conducted at the university.
Enhance research support: Assist researchers in identifying relevant resources and support services.
3. Policy
3.1 Registration Requirement:
All research activities, regardless of funding source or internal/external nature, must be registered in the RR before seeking any approvals (e.g., Institutional Review Board (IRB), Ethical Committee (EC), etc.).
3.2 Mandatory Information:
The following information must be entered in the RR for each research activity:
Serial Number: Unique identifier generated by the system.
Domain: Broad area of research (e.g., Life Sciences, Engineering).
Type: Classification of research (see below for the types and its explanation).
Primary Department/Area: Primary department or unit conducting the research.
Principal Investigator (PI): Faculty member leading the research (ID and Name).
Student Investigator (Optional): Student involved in the research (ID and Name).
Co-Investigators (Optional): Other investigators involved (ID and Name, separated by commas).
Proposed Title: Clear and concise title of the research project.
Start Date of Study: Planned start date of the research activity.
Expected End Date: Anticipated completion date of the research activity.

Any changes to the registered information must be submitted through the RR system or to the designated office.
The updated information will be reviewed and verified before being incorporated into the registry.
5. Responsibilities
5.1 Researchers:
Responsible for registering their research activities in the RR.
Ensuring accuracy and completeness of information submitted.
Maintaining updated information in the RR as the project progresses.
5.2 RR Administrator:
