Grandparent's Day and Cake stall wrap up
A huge thank you to our wonderful school community for supporting two fantastic events in the last week!
Last Friday afternoon, our Year 3 Cake Stall was a huge success, raising an incredible $1,600! The spread was impressive, featuring delicious brownies, cupcakes, cookies, donuts, and layered jelly cups. This event wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of our helpers. A special thank you to our awesome group of volunteers: Anne, Ash, Chloe, Eliza, Emily, Fi, Keren, Lindsay, Lisa, Sarah E, Sarah C, and Tayla. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated!
We kept the wonderful momentum going yesterday with Grandparents Day. It was a delightful (sunny...phew!) event with a fantastic community feel, and our picnic boxes were a massive hit with all our special visitors. Thank you to everyone who helped bring our school community together! We loved it! As always, feedback is welcome - so please email events.bbpspandc@gmail.com if you have any thoughts to share on these events.
Final Call to order Mangoes: Orders Close tomorrow (Wednesday)
Get ready to sweeten your summer while supporting our school! Today is your final reminder to order a 7kg tray of fresh, delicious mangos for just $40, delivered right to the school in late November or early December (exact date to be confirmed). This is a fantastic, easy way to fundraise for BBPS and stock up on summer treats.
Orders close this Wednesday, 28th October! Place your order today via Flexischools to secure your tray before time runs out.
Summer Mango Recipe Idea: Refreshing Mango Daiquiri
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen or fresh ripe mango cheeks (diced)
60ml white rum
30ml fresh lime juice
15ml simple syrup (or honey)
1 cup ice cubes
Method:
Add the mango, white rum, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and ice into a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth and slushy. Pour into a chilled glass, garnish with a lime wheel or a fresh mint sprig, and enjoy a taste of summer!
Dads’ Social Afternoon at Club Cronulla
What a cracking afternoon! 70 Burraneer Bay Dads enjoyed an afternoon of barefoot bowls at Club Cronulla on a beautiful spring Friday afternoon.
The event was a chance for dads across the school to connect, meet other Dads and parents, and have some fun. Dads from every year group were mixed into teams of four for a friendly competition, very well organised by Jamie Carson. With some fun prizes on offer, the competition was taken seriously by many, proving that our kids’ competitive spirit clearly comes, at least in part, from their Fathers!
Club Cronulla gave us really positive feedback on the exemplary behaviour of our Dads, and we’re pleased to report that most were home at a very reasonable hour. A big thank you to Parso and the guys for organising the event. It’s building great momentum in Dads’ engagement with the school community, and we look forward to the next one.
Colour Run Prizes - Final chance to select!
Prize selections have been reopened until 12 pm on Wednesday 28 October!
We still have a number of children who raised funds for our Colour Run but have not successfully submitted their prize selections.
If you haven't selected your child's prizes, please log in to myprofilepage.com.au and complete your selections before the deadline. A few important things to check:
✅ Confirm your submission: Your selected prizes should appear under 'Prizes Submitted', with images displaying a watermark. If this section is blank, your selections have not been recorded.
👧 Multiple children? Please check each child's profile individually, as some families have successfully submitted prizes for one child but not another.
💻 Technical difficulties? Try accessing the portal on a laptop or desktop computer rather than your phone.
📧 Still having trouble? As a last resort, please contact the P&C (president.bbpspandc@gmail.com) with your child's name and a clear list of their preferred prizes, and we can submit them manually. You should have received an email from us yesterday if your prize selection did not go through, and you can reply directly to that email.
No time to make your selections? Don't worry! We will choose prizes on your child's behalf so they don't miss out. If you would prefer your child not to receive a prize, please let us know.
A huge thank you to all our families for your incredible fundraising efforts! We can't wait to distribute the prizes and celebrate the children's amazing contribution to our school community! 💚
Teacher gifts - tips and tricks
It’s coming up to that time of year again when someone puts their hand up to coordinate the class Christmas gift.
Whether that ends up being you, another willing parent, or someone who's already taken the lead, here are a few handy tips to keep the process simple and stress-free:
No Fixed Amounts: Let parents contribute whatever amount they’re comfortable with so there’s zero pressure.
Use a Poll for Ideas: Open discussions on chat groups can get overwhelming fast! It works much better to offer three solid options and set up a simple WhatsApp poll for everyone to vote.
Gift Card / Voucher: If you go down this path, stick to specific store gift cards. Avoid prepaid Visa or Mastercard gift cards, as the Department of Education gifts policy classifies these as cash, which teachers are not permitted to accept.
Avoid overly personal items: It's safe to avoid gifts such as jewellery, perfume or clothes as these can be tricky to get right.
We hope this helps!
*please note that class gifts are organised independently by parent volunteers, not the P&C, and the P&C does not collect or hold any funds for them. Please also note, there is no obligation to purchase a gift or contribute to a group present for your child’s teacher.
P&C Term 4 General Meeting: Tuesday 17 November
All parents, carers and members of the Burraneer Bay school community are welcome at the P&C’s Term 4 General Meeting.
When: Tuesday 17 November 2026, 7.00pm
Where: Staffroom, Burraneer Bay Public School
This is an important meeting. Members will be asked to adopt a new set of Rules for the P&C, replacing our current By-laws, along with a suite of updated policies. Together these set out how the P&C makes decisions, manages its funds and looks after the people involved in it. You’ll also hear the latest on P&C events, fundraising and projects.
Want a say? Anyone can attend, but only P&C Members can vote. Membership is $5 a year and is open to all parents and carers of BBPS students, and to community members living in the school’s enrolment area. You can join at the meeting, but new memberships take effect at its close, so you won’t be able to vote on the night. To vote on the 17th, you’ll need to have joined at an earlier meeting.
IMPORTANT: If you plan to nominate for an Executive role at the March 2027 AGM, your membership must be approved at this November meeting. So, get joining!
If you’d like a copy of the agenda or have any questions, please email the Secretary at secretary.bbpspandc@gmail.com.
