We are thrilled to bring back the BBPS P&C Colour Run on Thursday, 15th October 2026. Whether this is your first time hearing about it or you're a seasoned participant, here is everything you need to know.
Key Details:
When: Thursday 15th October, 2026
Time: 1pm-3pm
Where: BBPS School Oval - NOT JENOLA!
1. Event Overview & Registration
What is a Colour Run?
The Colour Run is the P&C’s major annual fun run fundraiser, designed to bring our community together to raise vital funds for school projects while having an absolute blast! It is an un-timed, high-energy, active event held on our school oval. Students run or walk around a designated course featuring fun, safe obstacles (like inflatables) while being showered with vibrant, non-toxic coloured powder at designated stations. It is all about celebrating community spirit, staying active, supporting our school, and having fun together!
How do I register my child to participate?
Registration is officially open! Complete these two steps to get your child ready:
Sign the Permission Slip: Complete the digital permission slip sent via School Bytes (if you missed the permission slip - go to your School Bytes app and click on "Activities").
Set up your child’s online fundraising profile by scanning the QR code on the Australian Fundraising booklet sent home, or by visiting myprofilepage.com.au and clicking Register. (If you already have a saved login from 2025, you can sign right in—there's no need to create a new account!)
Does my child need to raise money to run?
No. Inclusion is our top priority. Every student with a signed School Bytes permission slip participates in the event, obstacles, and colour stations regardless of whether they raise funds.
2. How & Why we Fundraise
Why are we fundraising?
100% of P&C proceeds go directly back into our school to support our 600 students. For 2026, our goal is to raise $20,000 to fund a sensory and community garden, and additional outdoor seating around the oval and COLA’s.
How do we collect donations?
All fundraising is managed securely online through Australian Fundraising:
Share your child’s profile link with grandparents, extended family, and friends via SMS, email, or social media.
Any cash donations collected can be deposited directly into your online profile account.
Are there student prizes?
Yes! Australian Fundraising provides an incentive program where students earn points for online donations. Students pick their incentive prizes online after the fundraising drive concludes.
Does my child have to select physical prizes?
No. While students can choose traditional incentive prizes based on their fundraising total, Australian Fundraising also offers a Donate to a Cause option. Instead of receiving plastic items or toys, families can opt to direct their earned reward points toward donating to one of six fantastic community or environmental causes (such as planting native trees, supporting animal shelters, or feeding those in need).
Students can make this selection directly within their online fundraising profile when prize ordering opens!
3. Race Day Logistics (Thursday, 15th October 2026)
What time will my child run?
The event starts at 1pm and a detailed event run sheet will be shared with families closer to the date via the P&C newsletter, class chats and this FAQ document.
Running times will be staggered throughout the afternoon by stage (K–2 and Years 3–6) so every year group gets ample space on the oval and dedicated time through the obstacle and colour stations!
What should my child wear to school?
Come to school wearing your Colour Run clothes:
Shirt: Wear an old white t-shirt - white makes the non-toxic colours stand out!
Bottoms & Shoes: Wear old shorts and running shoes you don't mind getting dirty.
Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen before school and pack a school hat.
Eye Protection: Sunglasses will be provided to all participating students** by the P&C on the day. Students are also welcome to wear swim goggles.
What food do I need to pack for the day?
Pack the usual crunch & sip, recess and lunch, however the day will run a bit different to normal:
Students will have an early lunch at 11:10am (note - the canteen will be open for lunch orders).
The students will have their crunch & sip as normal but will bring their recess and water bottle to the oval to eat at 1:00pm.
Is the colour powder safe?
Yes. The colour powder is cornstarch-based, non-toxic, non-hazardous, and fully biodegradable.
How do you handle safety during the run?
Adult-Only Throwing: Powder is only thrown by adult P&C volunteers and teachers
Waist-Height Rule: Powder is strictly aimed at torso height—never directly at faces.
Colour-Free Bypass Lane: Students who want to run without colour powder can use the bypass lane.
What if my child has asthma or sensitive skin?
Asthma: Students with respiratory conditions are encouraged to wear a bandana or face mask. First Aid stations are equipped with asthma relievers and spacers.
Hair/Skin Prep: Applying hair oil, conditioner, or skin moisturiser beforehand helps prevent temporary powder tinting on light hair/skin.
Bypass Lane: Students can complete the obstacle run without going through powder stations. Please email events.bbpspandc@gmail.com if you’d like to discuss this further.
4. Clean-Up & Home Care
How do kids get cleaned up before home time?
We run a dedicated leaf-blower and dust-off station post-run to blow loose powder off clothes and skin before dismissal.
Top Tip for Pick-Up: Pack a towel for the car seat! Placing a towel over your vehicle seats keeps any leftover powder dust off your car upholstery.
How do I wash out the colour at home?
Hair: Rinse with cold water first, then shampoo normally.
Clothing: Wash promptly in cold water (avoid hot water or dryers until the colour is out, as heat sets dyes).
5. Parent Attendance
Can parents come watch?
Yes! We would love to have parents, carers, and grand-friends come down to the oval to cheer on the kids and soak up the excitement. Don't forget - it's at the school Oval, not Jenola this year!
Can I take photos on the day?
We know you’ll want to capture these colourful memories! You are welcome to take photos and videos of your own children. However, to respect the privacy and school media consent preferences of all our students, please do not post photos or videos containing other children on social media without explicit permission from their parents.
Do you need volunteers to help with the day?
Yes! An event this exciting cannot happen without the support of our wonderful school community. We need plenty of volunteers on the day to help everything run smoothly and keep the energy high.
If you are available to assist, please sign up for one of the following roles:
Set Up & Pack Down Crew: Help us build the course and station setups before the action starts, or assist with cleaning up once the run wraps up.
Photographer: Capture all the vibrant, high-energy moments throughout the event.
Warm-Up & Games Organiser: Help lead the students in fun pre-run activities to get them ready to move.
Colour & Water Station Squad: Join the team drenching and dusting our runners as they pass through the stations.
Please pop your name down here to secure your spot. Thank you in advance for helping make this an unforgettable day for our students!
