Operating along the UP Valley, Martinez, Niles, and Coast Subdivisions (in northern California), the Coast Starlight route is once-daily long -distance train traveling between Seattle, Washington and Los Angeles, California. With 27 intermediate stops between Seattle and Los Angeles, this Amtrak-operated line one of the most popular Amtrak trains. Crossing 3 states and trekking across the Cascades and Coastal Range in all three of these states. It also crosses the Central Valley in Northern California and runs along the coast, with ocean in view, in Southern California. Arriving southbound in Oakland in the morning, around 8:30am, the journey takes three days and two nights to complete, end-to-end. The ride along the coast near Santa Barbara has to be the highlight of the trip.
