Altamont Corridor Express, or ACE trains for short, is an independant commuter rush-hour operations heavy rail line between San Jose and Stockton. ACE owns and maintains all of its equipment in Stockton, adjacent to CP El Pinal. Union Pacific owns all trackage on this line and therefore engineers and conductors must comply with Union Pacific procedures if something abnormal were to arise. Union Pacific dispatch in Omaha, Nebraska is in contact with ACE engineers at all times, except between CP Coast and San Jose Diridon, where Caltrain dispatch is in effect. All ACE trains operate under reporting mark ACEX . ACEX operates a roster of F40PH-3C locomotives numbered 3102 through 3105. These old Electro-Motive Division diesels are being replaced by diesel-electric SC-44s, numbered 3110 to 3113, built by Siemens in Florin, California. Bi-level "Bombardier" are used on all ACE services. ACEX operates push-pull services, utilizing cab cars on all eastbound services. Numbered 3301 through 3308. ACE trains and engineers use the same radio frequencies as Union Pacific.
