Rukiya Mohamed
Rukiya (Ru-Key-Yah) Mohamed, MEd, OCT is a Somali Black Muslim educator, researcher and consultant. She is currently the Coordinator for the first K-12 Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement in Canada at the Toronto District School Board. Rukiya is a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto within the Social Justice Education department. Her research focuses on how Black Muslim youth engage in placemaking to find or create communities of belonging, experience affirmation, and engage in resistance and transgressive emancipatory practices within K-12 educational spaces.
