I have a sorting box for all the bits and pieces related to the making of ATCs.
Two sections in the box are shown here.
The first is for partially-completed ATCs.
The second is for all the canvas backgrounds that are made whenever I have leftover paint.
I plan to use this page as a record of "rescued" pieces. On March 1, 2026, I went through the "ATCs - partial - finish" box and threw out about a dozen cards that were probably hopeless to recover. There are a dozen cards left. My goal is to FINISH as many of these as possible during the month of March.
I have no idea how OLD this little painting is. It's been "in the pile" for quite a long time. The first problem is the composition. Everything is way too low on the canvas. It may have started out as a larger piece and I cropped out a better portion.
This was never going to be one of my better pieces. But I like to have on hand ATCs of all "grades," since I often trade with children. Adding some black coloring-book style outlines, and a flock of birds gives the piece a bit more interest.
And a double frame always makes a little ATC look classier.
It just needed more dots.
Black Dots!
Well... the real "before" had a solid pale green piece of cardstock as the backing, but I got carried away with the re-make and forgot to take a photo first....
MANY more dots. And quite a difference in lighting...
Just. Needs. More.
More added.
