"Crafty" techniques

I am trying to avoid making the kind of ATC that I call "Crafty Colláge." You see a lot of this type of ATC on Facebook.

I do NOT want to insult anyone who enjoys this kind of card. Crafty Colláges are fun. They are a great way to get started making cards. But I no longer trade for crafty cards. Scroll to the bottom of this page if you want to know why.

However....

I joined a swap on ATCsForAll.com in May, called Experiments with Acrylic Ink. It's all about learning to use a medium that may be new to us.

So I looked up some tutorials.

One of them stood out from the others, so I tried to use several techniques from Kim Dellow's How to Use Inks - 10 Ideas for Using Acrylic Inks

This card has #4 Drawing.... with a dip pen....
and
#6 Drops and splatters
and also a suggestion from NancyL on ATCsForAll.com: blowing!

#8 and #10

#8 was called "matt printing." For this technique, I placed drops in ink on a somewhat glossy paper, mixed a bit, then "printed" the lower portion of this card. #10 was called "string theory." I did some of the stems and leaves with string

More matt printing. This time I used some white ink that has started to deteriorate. Imagine that painting with fine sand and milk! The texture is interesting for backgrounds.
