On April 4, 2026, I played a short Facebook video that was posted by Optimistic Soap. It featured a second FB entity, citizenruthpdx.
That video is, in my opinion, magnificent.
I took some screenshots, saved the video in my "Good" folder, and then created an ATC inspired by the video.
Finally, I posted it on the April web page. I planned to make a more intricate ATC from the screenshots, after contacting Optimistic Soap for permission.
I never got around to making that contact.
The first ATC that I made is described below.
"How Do We Cope" is what I call a digital hybrid ATC.
I took a screenshot from Optimistic Soap's video and placed it on the first layer of a Procreate project.
Then I made Layer 1 semi-transparent and added Layer 2 over it.
On Layer 2, I roughly sketched the image.
This image was exported as a TIFF file.
The TIFF file was imported into the poorly-named application Pages.
I printed the page of images. Using Prismacolor pencils and a Pigma Micron pen, I did an "overdrawing."
Then I put double-stick tape on the back, cut the edges with pinking shears, and applied the cut-out to a piece of my favorite black paper: Legion Stonehenge Black watercolor paper. (hot press? cold press? it doesn't really matter for backgrounds!)
In June, I got a second request for the "How Do We Cope" ATC.
I made a second card and decided to create THIS web page, explaining things.
I will be sending a link to this page to Optimistic Soap, and requesting permission before I make any more cards.
This card went to Mary L.
This card was
custom-made
for
Tess.
Overdrawing done on June 30, 2026.
I got a better photo this time.... to card 02 looks better than card 01 at first glance.
They were VERY similar to one another.
This is how the "Pages" file looks when I print it.
I sometimes offer digital images in PDF format for others to color, but this is NOT one of those files.Â
I did not plan to trade the first card I made.
Frankly, I loved it.
But I did not put "NFT" on the April web page, and I very quickly got a request for "How We Cope."
So I mailed it to Mary L.
And later, my good friend Tess requested the card and I made the second one.
The THIRD card will be my AKC, and I won't make any more until I get permission from Optimistic Soap.
I would LOVE to create a version of this ATC with a pocket on the back. Inside the pocket, I would like to include a transcript from the video posted by Optimist Soap on April 4, 2026. I will be sending my request soon, but I will not make such an ATC without their consent.
