Great art has emotional impact.
Few of my ATCs are "great" art, but sometimes I need to write a little bit more about the background of a particular image.
On January 25, I decided to finish up my ATCs for the month.
I had only two prompts left. One of them was to "use a word from the 365 Days of Drawing Challenge."
The word prompt Hunger made me think of a famous photo by Kevin Carter.
This is a poor attempt to capture the emotions of that photo, but I still cried the entire time I was drawing this. For me, my image reminds me of the story behind the photo and much has been written about the moral dilemma of documenting human tragedies.
I first learned about this photo from a posting on the Art Teachers Facebook group, and I wish I could find that lesson reference. A quick search on the site yeilded nothing. But the teacher wrote a beautiful lesson around the concept of the moral decisions involved in publishing a photo on a subject such as this one.
