Prints

I joined the "Hand Carved Stamps in ATC Cards" swap on ATCsForAll.com.

I know that I MUST have done some kind of linocut printing in my college art class, but I have no recollection of what my image was. I sort of remember the look and feel of cutting linoleum. I had an old set of linocut tools. But I have no prints and no memory of it. I remember doing a wood cut image of my hand. It wasn't very good and I probably lost the print years ago. I remember doing intaglio... and I still have one print of a crazy self portrait. I do not think carving rubber was a "thing" in 1975. But that is where I started.

Carve #1

"I Did not MEAN to Dye My Hair Green"

I could not find my carving tools, so I tried to cut the rubber with a hobby knife.

I do not recommend this.

But I did have fun with the image and I did trade several of these prints.

One will go to the swap.

I plan to print just a few more and add "hair" with my sewing machine.

Carve #2

Moonlit Trees

The second carving was quick and easy. I made some mistakes, but I had a lot of fun and I like the image.

I plan to make a similar carving with linoleum.

Stamps #3 and #4

Part of the learning process is coming to understand that the types of images I do well with pen and ink are not necessarily going to work with carved stamps.

I tried TWICE to do a version of my "Doodle Cat."

I am not too pleased with either of the stamps, but I did get some trade offers on them.
