Venus: The Hottest Planet

Venus is the second planet from the Sun. It's often called Earth's "sister planet" because they're similar in size and mass. But don't let that fool you! Venus is a super hot, toxic world.

A Fiery Furnace

Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system. It's so hot that it could melt lead! This is because of its thick, toxic atmosphere, mostly made up of carbon dioxide. This greenhouse gas traps heat, making the surface incredibly hot.

A Mysterious Planet

Venus is often called the "Veiled Planet" because it's always covered in thick, yellowish clouds. These clouds make it hard to see the surface. Scientists think there might be active volcanoes on Venus, but it's hard to tell for sure.

Spinning Backwards

Venus spins in the opposite direction of most other planets. This means that the Sun rises in the west and sets in the east on Venus!

So, while Venus might look like a bright, beautiful star in the night sky, it's actually a scorching hot, mysterious world.
