Mercury: The Speedy Planet
Mercury is the smallest and fastest planet in our solar system. It's also the closest planet to the Sun! Because it's so close, it's incredibly hot during the day, but freezing cold at night.
A Craterscape
Mercury's surface is covered in craters, like the Moon. These craters were made when big rocks from space, called asteroids, crashed into the planet.
A Quick Orbit
Mercury zips around the Sun really fast! A year on Mercury is only 88 Earth days. That means a whole year on Mercury goes by much faster than a year on Earth!
No Moons
Unlike Earth, Mercury doesn't have any moons. It's just a tiny planet, all alone, whizzing around the Sun.
