Andromeda Galaxy

The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as Messier 31 (M31), is the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way. It's a spiral galaxy similar in shape to our own.  

Key features of the Andromeda Galaxy:

• Size: It's significantly larger than the Milky Way, with a diameter of about 220,000 light-years.

• Distance: It's located about 2.5 million light-years away from Earth.  

• Mass: It's estimated to have a mass of about 1.5 trillion solar masses.

• Brightness: It's visible to the naked eye as a faint, elongated smudge of light.  

• Collision with the Milky Way: In about 4.5 billion years, the Andromeda Galaxy is predicted to collide with the Milky Way, resulting in a massive elliptical galaxy.
