🔊 Updated Call-Out Policy 🔊
In our commitment to operational excellence, we're introducing a revised call-out policy. Effective immediately, employees are urged to provide a minimum of 6 hours' notice for any absence, unless facing an emergency. Your cooperation ensures smoother operations and maintains our team's performance scores. Read on for the full details and the positive impact of timely communication on our collective success...
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of every employee’s position. Employees are encouraged to give at least 12 hours' notice before their shift for any call-outs, affording the team an opportunity to arrange coverage and maintain optimal performance scores. It's crucial to understand the impact of last-minute call-outs on our team's performance, as such occurrences carry an 8 times greater weight against our score compared to timely rejections of trips made 12-15 hours before the shift.
In the event that an employee is unable to report to their shift or will be reporting to work late, the following call-out policy is hereby in effect. Employees must provide a minimum of 6 hours' notice unless facing an emergency. The Company will determine whether the reason for the call-out or the late report was the result of an emergency in its own discretion. The Company also reserves its right to require documentation to support the need for the emergency call-out or late report. The Company may also require a back-to-work note for call-outs due to the employee’s own medical condition.
Failure to adhere to these call-out procedures may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Additionally, repeated failure to report to work for two scheduled shifts without notice will be considered job abandonment, and the employee will be deemed to have voluntarily resigned from employment.
Inspections are the first line of defense in safe operation and should not be neglected under any circumstance. Pre and Post-trip inspections are essential for spotting your equipment's defects before they threaten your safety.
⚠️Pre & Post Trip Inspections⚠️
Pre and post-trip inspections are essential for spotting your equipment's defects before they threaten your safety. These inspections are so important that federal regulations require you to perform at least one every day and record the inspection in your hours of service log.
We require both a pre-trip and a post-trip daily.
Therefore, when inspecting your vehicle pay close attention to:
Your braking system which includes your air compressor, air brake lines, brake pads, drums or rotors and calipers, low air pressure alarm and brake lights
Your steering system which includes the amount of play in your steering column, rack and pinion components, power steering fluid and your steering tires
Additional points to pay close attention to are the fifth wheel assembly, headlights, marker lights, signal lights, and tires.
Checking Oil
If the oil is registering anywhere on the hash marks on the dip stick no need to add oil, per Amerit.
Overfilling the trucks can cause the truck to be out of service until oil is drained and removed from the crank case breather system.
📢 Draining Air Tanks: A Quick Guide!
Draining air tanks is an essential part of keeping our trucks in top shape and ensuring safety on the road. It should be a part of your daily routine!
