Some polices regarding the trips on Relay!
When trips change while you are on site, either due to them not having the trailer ready or whatever the case; please wait for the clearance from dispatch to leave.
🛑 When we change a trip from a trailer to a bobtail; We also need to make sure the original check in time stamp sticks to that leg in the system. But if you leave without us doing so, it will look like the moment you checked out is also the moment you arrived. Making you late in the system. So if there is a change, just hang tight a minute before heading out. 🛑
🕐 30 minutes Rule 🕜
Always reach out to dispatch if your trailer is not ready 30 minutes before your departure time. The point of this is so you have time to locate the trailer, pre-trip and get on your way. There are times you might need to wait past departure time but overall we should be looking to leave on time at each stop. This does not mean your trip can and will be changed 30 minutes before departure but we should all be looking into getting the information needed for you to depart.
If you are on the last stop and you are facing an HOS issue you can not wait past departure time ever. If its an empty you can not wait past departure time. However, if you are in the beginning or middle of your tour waiting on a loaded trailer and you have plenty of HOS... and the next leg is an empty, we would advise you to wait for that trailer as long as it will be ready in a reasonable amount of time. This is something you need to communicate with dispatch on. At the end of the tour, if HOS becomes an issue we just bobtail you back to the yard. Waiting 10-15 minutes past departure time for a loaded trailer is something you might have to do. This will not extend your day and the delay to the next stop would be under "delayed loading" from the previous stop.
