Aim
The Art Life Society is a non-profit making body whose aim is to encourage interest in and practice of the visual arts. This includes the many forms of drawing, paintings, 3-D and print. It is to provide opportunities to exhibit and participate in art-related events and activities.
Committee members
The Art Life Society has the following committee members:

The Committee members for each year shall be elected at the AGM in the month of March.
Responsibilities
The Committee is responsible for running the Art Life Society and shall meet as and when necessary.
The Chairperson shall have the authority to call a Committee Meeting giving not less than 28 days’ notice.
Quorum
(Quorum - the minimum number of members of an assembly or society that must be present at any of its meetings to make the proceedings of that meeting valid).
3 Committee members which must include the chair and the treasurer and 1 member, shall form the Quorum where by The Chair shall have the deciding vote.
The Committee shall have the power to legislate on any point not provided for in this Constitution.
The Committee shall have the power to co-opt persons onto the Committee as it deems necessary.
All equipment and other assets of the Society shall be vested in the Committee.
Communication
All persons interested in ALS are able to sign up to the Newsletter and are added to the mailing list via the trusted platform mailchimp.
Membership
Please note: Some regular events are open to non-members and members.
The membership year and annual program of events and exhibitions run from 1st April to 31st March. Any person over 18yrs may become a member and, having paid the annual subscription, shall have the opportunities to participate in exclusive events and exhibit with ALS.
Events organized under the banner of the ‘Art Life Society’ are opportunities to attend free and fee-paying; art-related events, exhibitions, demonstrations by guest artists/art tutors, and social events organized by the committee.
Annual Subscriptions
The subscription is currently £5 per year. Subs are due by the 31st March each year. If paid near the month of March to subs will be counted toward the year ahead and valid until the 31st March the following year.
Subs can be paid at any time.
To exhibit or attend special member only events, persons must be a members of the Art Life Society.
Subs are reviewed each year at the AGM by the Committee at an amount that will cover the Art Life Society's running costs as far as possible but consistent with the Society's current/forecast financial position.
Accounting
The Treasurer shall be responsible for the day-to-day accounting of the Society's finances and will prepare and present a set of accounts at the AGM. The financial year runs from 1st April to 31st March.

Aims
Art Life Society is open to all. We aim to BE KIND and have an atmosphere of friendship, respect, and care for each other. In particular, we aim to treat every member equally, regardless of their age, disability, gender reassignment, gender identity, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, ethnicity, race, religion or beliefs, or sexual orientation.
Accessibility
All our meetings and events are held in venues that are accessible to wheelchair users. When there are more than 40 people at an event we aim to use a PA system and a hearing loop.
We are committed to ensuring any member is able to attend our activities, we will our access requirements to meet the needs of all our members.
Diversity
Our Art Life Society belongs to all members. We aim to organize a range of events and activities to suit the interests of the members with regard to visual art, demonstrations, and exhibitions.
Inclusion and respect
Every member of the Art Life Society should be made to feel equally welcome and included at meetings and events they attend.
Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise offensive and inflammatory remarks and behaviour are not acceptable. These constitute harassment and have no place in the Art Life Society.
Dealing with discrimination and harassment
If any member feels they have been discriminated against by the society or harassed at a society event they should raise this with the committee by emailing artlifesociety2021@gmail.com
The committee will investigate the complaint, listening to all members involved. (If the complaint is against a committee member, that member will not be part of conducting the investigation).
If the complaint is against a particular individual, this person will have the opportunity to express their point of view, accompanied by a friend. The person making the complaint will also have this opportunity.
If the complaint is against the society as a whole, the Committee must work to ensure that such discrimination is not repeated in the future and must inform the members of how they propose to do this.
Any decision to exclude a person from the organization due to discriminatory or harassing behaviour will be made with reference to the society's constitution. The society will support people who feel they have been harassed or discriminated against and will not victimize or treat them less well because they have raised this.
This policy was adopted at a meeting of Art Life Society on 2nd March 2020 and will be reviewed at least every 2 years.

Your address is required in cases where you are unable to collect your artwork. We do not deliver artworks home as standard, but we help if the circumstances require us too.
