My two favourite subjects at school were art and biology. I went on to do biology at

University but my career went elsewhere when I joined the NHS. Since retiring from a long

service in the NHS it has been a great opportunity to go back and reopen my school interests.

Much of my work has been in pencil and pastel, with particular emphasis on animals, plants

and the natural world. I do art purely for enjoyment. More recently I have been doing pet

portraiture for friends. The Art Life Society has given me the opportunity and the confidence

to exhibit work which I never would have done before. Having to work to a theme in

exhibitions is also a great challenge and has pushed me out of the more usual subjects that I

paint and draw.
