6th Grade Lesson

Illustrated Name Portfolios

I taught this lesson (provided by Bethany and Ryan Theile, the lead art teachers) for students at Brambleton Middle School. We discussed how we can transform letter shapes into objects. Students practiced in their sketchbooks. For the second day, I provided 18x24" paper which I directed the students to fold in half to create their portfolios. I showed a few more examples of illustrated names and students worked on their projects. Simple warm ups served as formative assignments. The final project, critique and self-assessment was tallied for the final summative grade.
