"Fish eagle (Haliaeetus vocifer) in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda"
Daniel Byamukama is a student at the Banyabutumbi Cultural Heritage Organization (BACHO-K), a grassroots organization in Rwenshama, at Lake Edward, Queen Elizabeth Park, Uganda, aimed at promoting conservation with sustainable community development. BACHO-K supports over 300 orphans with food, housing and schooling, empowers them with cultural dance and art programs, and helps them develop conservation compatible livelihoods. During the 2024 Photography Inspiring Children in Conservation photography workshop in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Daniel was a quick learner and had a keen eye for composition, light and capturing wildlife.
Daniel's amazing image of a fish eagle is now enjoyed by a number of people in the US, and he has earned a profit from the sales of his photographs. He continues to share his knowledge of art, photography and conservation with the many orphans in the BACHO-K community. By acting as a role model in his hard work, commitment to conservation-compatible work, and mentorship, he is leading the way to a more sustainable future in Rwenshama.
