Ainembabazi Peterson is a 25-year old artist in Buhoma-Bwindi, Ugandan, currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Tourism and Hospitality at Makerere University. Peterson draws and paints during days and weekends off school to explore new skills and techniques. Art sales help support his daily living expenses and school fees. Trained as a tourist guide, Peterson has focused his guiding on sharing the local Batwa conservation-refugee culture with international visitors.
Peterson is using his talents to produce incredibly expressive pieces that have reached people in the US, Europe, Canada and throughout East Africa. His art speaks for itself and continues to bring awareness as it travels the world, but the income he receives from sales is fueling his academic goals to become a trained eco-guide. He will be reaching many people in the future with his love of mountain gorillas and his beautiful artwork.
