The ASP Conservation Committee advances the protection of wild primates and their habitats through funding, advocacy, and collaboration across the global primate community. With more than 65% of primate species threatened, the committee focuses on evidence-based action, small-grant support, and mobilizing members to speak up for conservation.
Administers the Conservation Small Grants program supporting field conservation and conservation education projects (awards currently up to $3,500)
Recommends recipients for ASP’s conservation recognition awards to elevate impactful work in the field.
Runs the ASP Conservation Action Network (ASP-CAN), which provides training and publishes “Action Letters” to help members advocate effectively.
Led efforts like Saving Primates Where They Live (in partnership with Re:wild) and created rapid-response support during COVID-19 for habitat-country partners.
Represents ASP within international conservation networks, including IUCN membership and specialist-group engagement.
