Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a vibrant, family-friendly musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, based on the biblical story of Joseph from the Book of Genesis. The story follows Joseph, the favored son of Jacob, who is gifted a magnificent multicolored coat, sparking jealousy among his eleven brothers. Envious of Joseph’s status, they sell him into slavery, telling their father he is dead. Joseph is taken to Egypt, where he becomes a servant in Potiphar’s household, only to be wrongfully imprisoned after being accused by Potiphar’s wife.

While in jail, Joseph discovers his gift for interpreting dreams, which eventually leads him to Pharaoh, who seeks guidance about a troubling vision. Joseph predicts seven years of prosperity followed by seven years of famine, earning Pharaoh’s favor and rising to power as his second-in-command. As famine strikes, Joseph’s brothers unknowingly come to him for help, and he ultimately forgives them, bringing the family back together. Filled with an eclectic mix of musical styles—including rock, calypso, country, and pop—Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a lively, humorous, and uplifting show celebrating resilience, redemption, and the power of dreams.
