1979 - Hello, Dolly

Hello, Dolly! follows the charming and determined Dolly Levi, a widowed matchmaker in 1890s New York, who sets out to find a wife for the grumpy but wealthy half-a-millionaire, Horace Vandergelder. However, Dolly secretly plans to marry Horace herself, setting off a series of comedic misadventures. Meanwhile, Horace’s clerks, Cornelius and Barnaby, sneak away to New York City, where they fall for the lively Irene Molloy and her assistant, Minnie Fay.

As mistaken identities, romantic mix-ups, and extravagant musical numbers unfold, Dolly skillfully orchestrates events to ensure everyone finds love—including herself. In the end, Horace realizes he truly needs Dolly, and she joyfully accepts his proposal. Production Info:

The vocal department's production of Jerry Herman's "Hello Dolly" was one of the finest musicals staged in the high school. There were over 70 students in the cast, with all the leads being seniors who had at least two years experience. The characters were Mrs. Dolly Levi

The production was under the direction of Mr. James Halbert ably assisted by Mrs. Pia Hoyer in charge of make-up and props; Mr.

James Gerber lighting and video and Mr. Dean Patterson and the Graphic Arts Il class who printed the programs. Mrs. Farnsworth, Lancaster Town Historian provided the excellent costumes and Ms.

Holly Scherlein was the choreographer. Laura Rogers was the accom-panist. The musical took place in March 1979.
