Exhibit 5

Wanderlust

In my search for project inspiration, I came across many double exposure projects that I thought were really neat. For this project, I wanted to try one of my own. I chose a side profile photo so that there would be a more natural transition into the trees in the hair.

This project demonstrates my knowledge of adjustment layers and blending modes through the several adjustments that had to be performed in order to blend the tree photo with the woman.

Design Elements:

  • I chose to crop my image so that my subject is center aligned. I did this so that the focus is purely on the subject.

  • I chose to use a a color that brought a warmth to my design while still remaining neutral.

  • I chose to align with the tops of three trees visible so that it was obvious that that element of the image is part of a forest.

Photoshop Skills Used:

  • Cropping

  • Layers

  • Levels Adjustment

  • Gradient

  • Layer Blending Modes

  • Layer Masks

Revision: I added more hair texture to the back of the head based on some a recommendation from a peer.

YouTube tutorial was referenced for greater understanding of how adjustment layers worked together to create this type of artifact. I chose to use the forest photo from the tutorial because I like how it looked better than other photos I found.
