Exhibit 4

Wolf Cry

This exhibit demonstrates my knowledge of selection tools to remove a subject from an image and place it on a new background. I also utilized layer masks to creat the nighttime look that I wanted my design to have.

Design Elements:

  • The moon and the wolf are lighter than the background, creating contrast between the subjects and the background.

  • There is a diagonal line between the moon and the wolf, helping keep the focus on them.

  • The moon sits on a vertical rule of thirds line, which help create a point of focus in the image.

Photoshop Skills Used:

  • Object Selection tool

  • Select and Mask tool

  • Refine Edge Brush

  • Elliptical Marquee

  • Color Lookup Adjustment Layer - Moonlight

  • Clipping Mask

  • Opacity

Revision: I darkened the color of the wolf by copying the wolf and using it as an adjustment layer. I applied a black and white filter to the moon and moon reflection. I applied a motion and ripple filter to the moon reflection.
