Scenario

The purpose of this drill is to try and bring together the topics covered in recent drills and critiques into a smooth response to this fictitious scenario.

Focus points:

• safety is a priority

• realistic response/arrival times

• adherence to existing SOPs

• positive essential fireground communications

• successful and orderly fireground tactics

• timely application of initial water

• timely initiation of reliable water supply

The Scenario:

Address: 42 E. Orchard Terrace - a 1 1/2 story single family home, type 5 light framed construction (map below)

Report: kitchen fire (fully involved); all residents out of building

Police on scene confirm smoke and fire showing from south side of the first floor.

Procedure:

Communications:

• As this is a drill, ALL radio communications on Adams Fireground (No Response - check in apparatus before using)

• Car 3 is dispatch and will also use AFG channel

Response Order: (30 seconds between each)

• Car 2/4/5 (one will be command**, one safety officer, one will keep notes/times)

• Engine 2

• 3 FFs POV

• Engine 1 (not SOP but is realistic)

• 2 FFs POV

• Tower 4

• Remaining FFs POV

• Truck 3

Evolution Checkpoints:

• Arrival and placement of apparatus

• First water

• Hydrant supply

• Tower set

* *Command will call on-scene, confirm working fire and give size-up; also advise E2 of hydrant in front of structure and call to make it's own connection (not SOP); no other directions
