Full Professor of Industrial Chemistry at the University of Messina, Italy, and President of the European Research Institute of Catalysis (ERIC). President of IACS (International Association of Catalysis Societies) currently. In the past also the President of EFCATS (European Federation of Catalysis Societies). He recently initiated and coordinated an ERC Synergy project on plasma catalysis (SCOPE). He is also a member of the board of SUNERGY/SUNER-C, the European initiative on solar fuels. He is co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Energy Chemistry and the Studies in Surface Science and Catalysis book series. He chaired the editorial board of ChemSusChem and is a member of the advisory board of several journals. Among the recent awards the International Fellowship Initiative of the President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Humboldt Research Award. Author of over 650 scientific publications, 12 books, and several special issues. The current h-index is 98, with nearly 40,000 citations.
