There's 2 types of mutations; the visual ones affecting the look of a dragon, and the non-visuals which can affect a dragons' abilities.
These mutations affect the appearance of your dragon and are purely cosmetics. Albino and Pieblad are the only visual mutations currently ingame to represent this category.
Albino
The chance to obtain an albino dragon are very low (0.5%) and can only be achieved via player nests. An albino dragon cannot pass down its mutation to its offsprings and is considered as an 'Iconic" genetic wise.
In the future (at the 1.3 Skin Crafting update), albino dragons will offer the opportunity to its offspring to choose from a pink colors palette when crafting their own skin.
All dragon can obtain this mutation.
Example of the "Albino" mutation on the Brood Watcher.
Piebald
Sometimes, one of your babies will break off of its shell with a peticular pattern. It displays your skin, but white spots cover up its body? This is the Piebald mutation!
The chance to obtain a Piebald dragon are very low (0.5%) and can only be achieved via player nests. A Piebald dragon cannot pass down its mutation to its offsprings
It isn't any dragon that can produce Piebald offsprings. One parent need to have either "Leucistic" or "Albino" as its dominant or recessive skin. If one of these 2 skins is present into the parents' genetic, a piebald may pop out of theirs eggs.
There's a bunch of patterns possibles for Piebald. (much white or just a few - 8 in total, this include the inversed patterns)
All dragon can obtain this mutation and Piebald is possible on every skins.
*Note: Piebald take the advantage on albino if these conditions are respected. But doesn't mean it is guaranteed.
Example of the "Piebald" mutation on the Inferno Ravager.
Example of the "Piebald" mutation on the Shadow Scale.
Example of the "Piebald" mutation on the Acid Spitter.
Tip: Mutations are located into your 3rd tab in your character panel. ('i')
Remember that once you've confirmed your mutations, the decision is final. You will not be able to change where to put these unless you get renested or killed.
These mutations are similar to bonus for your dragon, quite like a skills tree. These are separated into 3 categories; Nesting, Movement and Survival.
Many prefer the "Social" and "Dominant" mutations for the PvE, while in PvP, "Agile, "Fast", "Scavenger" and "Survivor" mutations are favorised.
