There are days that begin with the trials of being on staff for a large Kingdom of Atlantia event, working as a cat herder (I am good at that) and then by chance, the magic happens and your remember why you devote so much of yourself so others can experience the dream of the Society for Creative Anachronism.
Yesterday as I was celebrating the writ received by Mistress Marion Le Red to contemplate joining the Order of the Laurel at Pennsic, there was a moment and then I was called to their Majesties. I did sit in shock for a moment - and then with the assistance of my Peer Father ( Master Robert Shockley of Avonsford (Adrian Alma), I did have to lean on him and presented myself. (Gosh I love those benches).
Their Royal Majesties, King Wilhelm and Queen Genevieve presented me with a writ to contemplate the joining of the Order of the Laurel in recognition of my art. What was so special with this writ - it was crafted by the hands of Her Majesty and it will hang in my studio as a reminder that my art and creativity has worth.
The question to join the Order will be answered at Sacred Stone Baronial Birthday and Investiture at Ancient Embers on September 11, 2026. As I sit here, I had already begun the submission with historic beads for a competition which would make Nefertiti proud, we will see the new Baronage Invested at the event and I hope you enjoy a SCOT's theme. There will be love and food.
My deepest thank you to my Peers - Haeflidge Annora Hall and Master Robert Shockley of Avonsford. My Peerage Sisters and brothers, Aunties. My Protégé, Lord Edward Perry, to their Majesties Wilhelm and Genevieve, their Highnesses, Ragnarr Blackhammer and Princess Jan, the Baronages, my SCA Family, my family who still think I am playing "Dungeons and Dragons". To all that have enjoyed my art, thank you. You have also given me the strength and courage to " Battle On", in the Worldwide Battle of the Beadsmiths.
As my calling card says: " An Atlantian Artisan making the Kingdom beautiful."
Humbly and in service to the Dream.
