You cut one King sized sheet into quarters, coming up with approx. 47"x47" squares.
The sides are folded in 2-1/2" , then folded again for 2-1/2" for a total of 5" for the borders. The finished size is about 42" x 42" . Please recall that this was hastily done in an assembly line of a few machines, so there is a range of variation of about +/- 1/2" amongst the panels for the Hawkwood Sheet Wall at War of the Wings.
As we had issues with the Projectors at Sandy's house and her overhead viewer did not work, I ended up buy one of my own LED electronic projectors that can be used with my computer. It will be here on 8/4/21.
These were made and posted by Kait Bethel - Dr. Kait on the Elizabethan Wardrobe group. They are referred to as Biggin or Coif or Caul headware and I love them. She does not have the propriety on them as they of a historical nature - told me where to find a pattern I can modify to suit my needs and was so very helpful. I cannot wait to make one.
P.S. I have the pattern. :)

to me, kingdomevents, Kathy, Gisela
Lady Adair
Good evening. We wanted to let you know, we have tentatively selected another site to host the Fall Crown Tournament. As the other group still needs to provide us with an official bid form and a budget, if you have made any arrangements, please don't cancel them just yet. We have given them a week to provide us with those items.
All that being said, we really liked the site and the information you provided was very helpful and met several of our requirements. If you would like us to consider this site with the same information for one of the other Kingdom events, such as the next Spring Coronation or Crown, please let us know. It is also not too early to put in a bid for next Fall, if you prefer to do events later in the year. If you would like us to consider it for another event, please identify which event and we would also need a rough budget of the costs to host the event.
Thank you again for taking the time to provide the information and thank you for your service to the Kingdom of Atlantia!

What would I like to do? Either is acceptable - Coronation or Crown. I'll ask everyone tonight during the Stormwall meeting and see what they would enjoy more.

Good morning!
Yes, they were able to find a site. Thank you for following up.
Please continue to work on a Coronation bid as we have not received any other interest in hosting it, and we would like to get it awarded sooner rather than later.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Good morning, I have a HUGE favor to ask of you.
Would you be willing to do something beaded for the Gulf Wars gift basket ? It can be anything you would like. Your beaded work is so lovely and unusual. That is the kind of thing that makes Royals go squee. Seriously, those are the kind of things that the Royals really treasure.
Pretty please
ME
LOL! Of course I will. What is my time frame before you leave. And are their any preferences?
We got Ansteorra in the gift drawing. You could go to their website. They have a great list of things they like that you could draw on.
GW is March 12. So maybe around the beginning of March.
Thank you so much.

Very good! I’ll have my submission ready and will get them to you in plenty of time.
Order of the Pearl Medallion for Her Excellency Machteld Klein. I am very pleased with how the medallion came out and I am looking forward to gifting to her on 12th Night. Now to work on Lucrezia's.
I really do hope she likes it!

I really do know that most Scribes hate to do my Heraldry...... those darn fighting Swans.
A proper thank you to : Rodney Woods (Sir Roland Wodeman) - Ryan Sweeney - Ashely Lundsford (Astrid the Owl) - Master Greylond - Our Seneschal Lord Arias - Lord Ewin( Cody Singleton), Heather Rumpf , Fionn MacKonnel (Richard Gay), Lady Franceska of Stormwall (Kim Schuman Holt) and moi.
Gosh - Chris Dole is awesome at what he does.
Today I taught a class in Historical Bead and Pearling through the ages for the SCA Inc. Hawkwood Baronial Birthday XVI. OMG - I had some wonderful students but I also had a special guest, THL Elspeth Grizel of Dunfort (Jen Segrest) of Midrealm and the owner of Medievalbeads.com. I had so much fun speaking with her and told her immediatley she is my hero. We had a great dialog and I look forward to speaking with her and meeting her in person.
It is a great day!
Beaded leather bag, 1630s, British; inscribed ‘heare et is hit or miss’, acorn pattern
A number of beaded bags from the early 17th century survive. Their stylized floral patterns and less expensive materials imitate the elaborate embroidered versions carried by the aristocracy. Many bare mottos or expressions relating to charity, friendship or luck, which suggests that they may have been used for gifts of money. This example is inscribed ‘heare et is hit or miss’.
The development of the ‘drawn-glass’ technique about 1490 allowed the manufacture of large numbers of small, round, coloured beads with a central hole, of the type used in this purse. The glassworks on the island of Murano near Venice were the most famous during the Renaissance, but by the early 17th century the technology had spread to glass-making centres in Amsterdam and Bavaria. Beads were produced mainly for trade with North America and Africa, but they were also sold in Europe for use in embroidery.
The expression ‘hit or miss’ is first recorded in the English language in William Shakespeare’s play Troilus and Cressida published in 1606, where it has the same meaning of random luck that it has today. The expression may have derived from a country dance also known as ‘hit and miss’, recorded as early as 1626.

Good Day Your Excellencies,
I am saddened that I will be unable to attend the Business Meeting at their Excellencies wonderful Homestead due to “Battle of the Beadsmith“, begins and I must complete a week earlier that the rest due to “ War of the Wings”. I will give my proxy to another Stormwall or Hawkwood member should there be a vote required.
I do have input in reference to the Hawkwood Site at WOW and I have no issues with others knowing what I think. This location has been the Baronies stable location with our greatest thanks to our Land Stewart, Her Excellency Veronica Passamonte. Many are not members of exclusive Household’s and this is a place of gathering for many members of the Barony to enjoy the camaraderie of other Baronial members and guests. I am caught off-guard with the commentary of Her Excellency Veronica Passamonte continuing as Camp Stewart? Land assignments have already begun and names are already referenced with Baronies, Households and visitors of their active Land Stewarts and if I remember correctly, it was already a part of commentary that our Camp Stewart would maintain as per previous years as she has our greatest support.
Layout and appearance – I will support the Stewart and the Barony on the lay out as I am there during the day and night and then sleep off site. I have already started acquiring ghost spots. Being the Gate Minister for the event, I will be occupied but you always know where to find me. Households and Baronies have already started working on their entrance packages and our sheet walls have expanded considerably. I have supported the building of an entrance befitting the Barony for entering the area.
As we will not be holding the Hawkwood Thursday Evening Party – it has opened many opportunities for the other Baronies to plan gatherings which we (Hawkwood) may participate in. Being on the WOW staff, it has been enlightening how many other Guilds, Households and Baronies are planning events for Thursday evenings now that Hawkwood will not have their annual party, for many at WOW to enjoy.
I fully support the establishment of a Food Plan. Seth and Jason always have a great food plan or whomever else is selected. I’ll be on the run but it will be comforting knowing that meals are available and we have a Guber at gate for pickup.
As always, I spoke my mind with my heart.
Response: Christopher Buchonnet -

War of the Wings 22
What an incredible event. It was so wonderful to see many I have not seen in years and have only dialoged with on-line. The Squee’s, the Hugs, the laughter, the food. “Thank Goodness for the food”.
There are many thanks you’s required as the Gate Minister. My first thank you is to Kari Blackwell Newby (Excellency Asta Knarrarbringa), thank you for allowing me to serve as your Gate Minister. I hope we met your expectations with humor and efficiency. My second thank you is to Paul Woodcutter and Tatiana Berezetskaia. You saw we were unable to break from the Gate and you were there each time with a breakfast or a dinner and sometimes both. You are both, the most incredible gentles and a return thank you shall head your way soon. To Morwenna Trevethan, thank you for always being my Second Count buddy each morning. You brought laughter to the Gate and I am touched by your generosity. To Elspeth Meresberie, my most heartfelt thanks for checking up on us during our 8:00 am to 10:00 pm runs to make sure our faces were not planted on the table. It was great to see you and spend what little time we had together and darn I need to make one of those shawls. To the beautiful faces of Hawkwood, your Excellency Gracia and your Excellency Veronica, Lady Sorcha, HL Lucrezia Sarta di Napoli and Kira Bouchonnet, thank you for checking on us and visiting with us and bringing more food. (PS -your Excellency Gracia – I have your plate and it shall be returned). To Adelhait Fuch, the Spaghetti Lunch fundraiser was a delight. I have never seen our Troll smile that big as they worked and ate. Thank you for supporting the new Crowns.
To my Peer and her consort, Haeflidge Annora Hall and Lord Robert Shockley of Avonsford, thank you for always being there and supporting my endeavors.
To the Security Staff – Master Alwin of Nottinghill Coill and Master Draco. Thank you for all that you did and keeping us safe.
To my staff, David Oxford and his consort Karen Oxford. I am glad you enjoyed working the Gate and even volunteered for additional shifts. And thanks to the generosity of Nottinghill Coill, and Honey Badger Tavern, you got to eat as well. You were a delight and thank you for hard booting my I Phone so it would stop sending 911 calls. Allegranza(Cathy Marie Edwards), Kathryn Smith, Sarah Lee Fesperman, Linda Anthony Sears and I know I am missing a few – but it was a blur at times. I offer you my greatest heartfelt thanks for being with us on the gate. You were efficient and detailed. No one could have asked for more.
To Meisterin Jdeke von Kolberg, I cannot refer to you as staff as I am appropriately your staff, but my greatest thanks for arriving Thursday and shipping me off to bed and working with me on Friday and Saturday besides planning shenanigans. As always it is entertaining.
And last but not least, to their Excellencies of Lions Keep, Marion Leoncina da Susa and Elazar of Northumbria. Thank you for allowing me to spend precious time with my Peer with laughter and food and to assist in the guarding of the right flank. It was a delight to fight the pirates.
In your service,
Adair of Makyswell
My self, Sorcha of Hawkwood, Lucreztia Sarta di Napoli, Franceska of Stormwall and Kalara of Stormwall.
5/28/1969 TO 9/23/22
He was such a unique person with a incredible sense of humor, a proficient rapier fighter, a lover of all animals and he was always participating with the Barony of Nottinghill Coill and visiting with the Barony of Hawkwood. He was a lover of all things animal and was a caretaker of cats. He was a gentleman to those he respected and he had a gently heart. I shall miss him terribly.
How did I meet Max?
I had just moved here from the Kingdom of Trimaris and as is my way, I volunteered and did art and volunteered more. I was recognized by His Majesty (Rob Hunter) Dietrich von Stroheim for all of my good works and was called into court. I did not know that many people in Hawkwood, so I stood up and started walking toward the aisle and when I looked up, there was Max with his arm out to escort me to the King. At first Dietrich toyed with me reminding me that he had called me to Court during Ruby Joust, and I was working with Stormwall at Greening Up the Mountain. He then awarded me a Grant of Arms and Max then escorted me back to my seat.
We always teased about that first meeting and how many times he always visited Hawkwood. We always laughed. Always.
I shall miss you, dear friend.
Look at the detail on the swan. Amazing.
At Kingdom Twelfth Night I entered the Tempore (1500-1600) with my In Progress Pelican Cap as well as display my wares. I received a Silver Nautilus from their Majesties Abran an Anya. I had so wanted a Silver Nautilus as this was the sign that I was on the right track with returning to my Artwork.
I wanted to design a pendant that was worthy of a Silver Nautilus and Annora recommended a Ammonite which I had three or four in the box. So - I began. Here is the result.
Was requested by the Autocrat Helga Vilhjalmskona (Elza Gekht) too sponsor a Beading and Needlework Solar as well as two Needlework Competitions with prizes. I am looking forward to seeing her as a Autocrat.

NEW COMMISSION:
Mistress Megan Ladd requested a new Paternoster. It is the body wrap Paternoster and I let her know - yes, I know how to keep it from breaking. Now to source the beads. Historically from that time period they would be made out of coral (pricey)- I am looking at alternatives as for advertisement that I do commissions - I will only charge for the materials.
I have so much more to write about this. I remember the first time I met her. Kingdom Arts and Sciences 3/3/2018 with her display table. We talked- shared insights and notes - I exchanged with her some of my research. She has come so very far.
I ordered 7 yards of Smoke Grey Silk and 3 years of Red Cinnabar silk to go with that lovely 4 yards of Grey. It took me a while to find this pattern - and it cost more than my Margo Anderson Patterns.
April 22, 2023
Jack Goodfellow posted a YouTube Link that was done for the Rapier Fighter demonstrations.
After looking at the photograph - I look frumpy.
I like the feel of this headware. In a lighter fabric it would be sufficient to wear under a hat.
When I was approached to construct a full body Paternoster for Mistress Megan, she had originally purchased one and was not pleased with how easy it broke. After contemplating the best way to approach this type of construction

All this is thanks to Dame Emma West for making the comment that it would be nice to wear broaches. Thank you "Its a Serafina" and this is so me.
Myself and Master Patris - Seneschal to the Barony of Sacred Stone with his Unicorn horn on.
I was not sure I would attend HWBB XX - but I had taken 4 Scroll assignments for Lady Signy Jorandottir, Sir Roland Wodeman, Robert Leftehand and unknowingly to Lucrezia, her Golden Dolphin. " I am a gluten for punishment" but I was not the Autocrat after the horrendous experience with Lord Fionn MacKonnel, the Seneschal of Hawkwood on my way home from my elevation to Pelican. The thrill of my elevation was ruined but in time all things heal.
I was able to enjoy myself with my Peer Annora and Father. I was asked to Judge the A&S along with Philomena. There was outstanding work in embroidery done by Heather Rumpf ( Lady Heather Hrafnsdottir). Adelhait loved the Baba Yaga with the chickens feet hanging down so we had a Pop-Up Pearl Order meeting and we voted to have her join our ranks. I am doing her scroll. It is always fun to work with Philomena. Tiberius was elevated to Master of Defense and I was pushing for Talor to be recognized by his Majesty Christoph. He recommended I do a recommendation to the Order of the Kraken. I did so.
Instead of staying for feast - we decided to stop and eat in Black Mountain before Annora and Robert had to head home. Lovely meal. All in all - did not have to worry about Gate, no responsibilities. Murienne and Snorri worked the feast . No worries and no contact with Lord Fionn. It was a lovely day.
First things first - It was hot. Really hot. Lucrezia, Franceska and myself headed to Ashland, VA. I was doing a A&S with Elza for Bead Embroidery, Cabachons and of course I was playing with Goldwork. Elza got pulled in many directions but at least we got to spend some time together. Taught Sandy and Kim how to do basic Goldwork. I was able to witness three Pearls elevated to include Fjorlief's sister for her Viking Knit. It was fun but I got more exercise between the Pearls, the Pelicans and the Golden Dolphins that I told His Grace Cuan, I was going to just sit on his lap.
The site was amazing with access but it would have been better if it were a Spring Event.
I recieved the most incredible gift from Fjorlief and her sister - a gift basket for being the best Deputy a Exchequer could ever ask for. It had lovely cut lace placemats, Crystal Swans and two swan salt cellars for the Feast Basket. All I could do was Squeeeeee!

I had the opportunity to refresh the mind by visiting the Chihuly Art Exhibit being held at the Biltmore Estate. It was smaller than the Exhibit I saw in Seattle, WA but it was still lovely. I went with Toni McCullough, Gary's wife who works at NOC and got discount tickets. It did what it was required to do - the mind was cleared and soaking in the colors.
I am sure this is self explanatory - But with multiple events I discovered a issue with SCORES reporting that we will be addressing in training until it is repaired
which was presented to GOOf's. We had attendance from Aethelmarc, East Kingdom , Calontir, etc.
6/10/24 - WOW Planning Meeting

The Canton of Stormwall held its " Rumors of War", which is a lead in to a much larger event on the 21st of June at the Smoky Mountain Event Center. We had individuals from all over the Kingdom of Atlantia but no one from Merifies that we could tell. Now that many have seen the site, I am sure that will change.
I served as Event Stewart and Arias (Joe Holt) served as MIC along with other jobs required.
I am going to post a few of my most favorite photographs and then post the link from the Canton of Stormwall page for you to view. We had Food Trucks and boy did those fighters keep them busy through out the day. There are so many wonderful photos. Arias - is a great photographer.
And I think they liked their gift bags as well.

11/19/2024 - I have a much nicer photograph of this piece and the outer ring is now perfected.
So let us start with Kumihimo but all of the attendee's wanted to continue the Persona class and Garb in preparation of War of the Wings.
We went ahead and scheduled (2) Stitch and Bitches for garb construction from 10am to 4pm.
One on 7/21/24 - which was well attended and
One on 7/28/24 - only Sandy came so we closed early.
Haeflidge Annora Hall and Her Excellency Lucrezia Sarta di Napoli served as witnesses to the contract.
I was unable to attend Tudor Con in Virginia this year but I was able to attend the classes and other events. I determined I would like to attend next year. "Let me start putting money away".
Samantha Bullet did an outstanding Video on tudor garb for women and I'll watch that quite a few times.
After realizing that servicing as the Reservationist, working with Land for space planning and then the Gate - I myself had over 197 hours. I would not stay silent on this.
Countess Yasmin Farrah wearing my Pendant
This became a pivotal moment in my SCA career. With supporting my Protoge's my focus will be on my Art Work.
On 10/31/2024 I received a request from the Jackson County Arts Council to submit my work for consideration for the Rotunda Gallery Call for Artists. I submitted both Awen of the Sea's and Artemist Rising.
On Monday the 18th of November I was informed my work had been juried and accepted. The reception will be December 13th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. WOW - just WOW!
11/30/2024: I have quite a bit of research now on Aumonere purses and I have two more to make into Aumoniere purses. One is above.

1/5/25 - Applique for Garments

Whispers of War - prep the event for June 14th. This one will not be a free event.
For the above photograph at the Christmas Parade - Robert Stevens in the armor passed away right before Pennsic. (He was a wonderful person)
12/7&8/2024 Unevent 2024-
I served with the Kingdom Exchequer for the Exchequer Information Module and took roll. Then I transferred over
to lead the Order of the Pearl at 11:15 am and was there to witness and attest that our wonderful Melchior was
given (after reminding - hints) a writ to join the Order of the Laurel. There was so much information to process with
individuals on the Pearl list. New changes to the ESP system by Sir Jonathas and then on Sunday, attended the
Order of the Pelican. All in all, it was a very good Unevent and I learned a lesson. ( A valuable lesson).
The agenda is next
The Jackson County Arts Council - Rotunda Group Show.
It was a personal achievement. After I finish the balance of the paperwork - I will have a one woman show slated for April/May 2025. They agreed to have 1/2 of the show for my SCA Items ( a large variety) and my Bead Embroidery - Chainmaille and Goldwork.
I was counseled that my work was under valued considerably and that I may wish to take a new approach in pricing and displaying. I will need to look at new display items. I met some lovely people ( artisans from around Jackson County). A few were recommending that I look at joining the:
The Southern Highlands Craft Guild
and they were really looking forward to my teaching Bead Embroidery and Weaving in the area.
And now? Prepping for Twelfth Night.
Overwhelmingly - I won the Gulf War's Selection to represent the Kingdom at Gulf Wars. Gulp!
It was so strange that there were no photographs of the A&S Displays. Normally I would be taking photographs but I blew that one.
Our group had already planned to attend Gulf Wars in MaryBeths RV - the day after I won. They cancelled. Not reading anything in this - it just happened.
2/1 & 2/2025 University # 118 (Virtual)
TA for Exchequer #101
TA for Exchequer #201
Instructor for Exchequer #301 - Pre-registration and SCORES
There were actually nine Elevations - It was Vigil Palooza and non-stop to include the newest Dual Peer- Dame Esme Brambley ( A Pelican and Laurel). David Stewart (Dougall) was made a knight of the realm.
While at the A&S Pavilion that the Woodlands set up on the Lyst Field for the Champion to meet and gather artisans - Mistress Jorunn asked if she could also belt Edward and have the support of both Peers. She had reached out to Annora and then we gathered together. How can someone not excel with two strong Peers?
It was such a wonderful day and the final court was amazing thanks to Paul Woodcutter and Tatiana Woodcutter and the Woodlands. What an incredible Household.
I came to support Elspeth in her display for a Kingdom Arts and Science event. It was hard not to display but- everything was leaving for Gulf Wars the following week. It was lovely to see everyone and laugh but it was so hard to sit next to Gabriel West when I knew he would be receiving a Pearl at Court. Then we - Annora, Robert, Edward, Elspeth, myself went out for dinner (Bar-B-Q)
Rikissa will be elevated to Laurel at SSBB 2025
A bracelet I had made for the Kingdom Gift Box - Bugle Beads - Bicones and 11mm beads
Even though I was not present as the Kingdom Arts & Science Champion - I was able to experience a part of the Competition. They were having Bandwidth problems so I was never interviewed which I believe would have been the higher scoring but, I enjoyed learning about the Larger War's and how to present .
Hi All- 3 Dog Knight Update,
Jarl Randall, along with Mistress Murienne and her house, have generously offered to provide food for Saturday night. Menu will be hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and sides. We would ask for donations from those attending dinner to help offset the costs borne by these gentles: target donation is $10 per person but any amount is appreciated. The Wandering Lady will be open Saturday night for hanging out and enjoying beverages.
Duke Sven from Ansteorre will be attending and ready to offer martial instruction. His Higness, Athos, will also be in attendance.
We encourage members of the rapier community to come and join in the fun. It would be great to have MODs and white scarfs come and provide teaching in the rapier arts for our rapier fighters. Please remember to post here if you plan to come and participate in rapier so that others know and we can build attendance.
We look forward to seeing you at 3 Dog at Elchenburg!
Dutchess Luned
If anyone has images they would like transferred onto a project I am bringing my digital projector and light box to the next three dog night fighter practice. If it is going to be warm I will also bring my batiking tools. (Air temps needs to be at least 75 for that ). If we can help you with any projects bring them and let me know. We should have some other dream makers there to assist you also. Banners tapestries pennons camp walls fabric and garb painting. I plan in the future to have fabric stamps and banner/tapestry racks built to bring along. If anyone else has stamps and tools to help others beautify the known world please bring them. Vivat Atlantia, Vivat Panache!
Did one scroll for HWBB for Coglin and Cooked (Yes, cooked) with Annora and Adrian in a wonderful Outdoor kitchen. YES! My first time in a kitchen. My first time from Set UP to partial tear down and I still have all 10 fingers. The theme was Moroccan and it was yummy. I learned how to shred, chop and just all kinds of stuff.
Lesson Learned: Read the darn recipe!
The first thing Marion said was oh my - this site is beautiful.
6/27/2025 - Two Events - War of the Wings 300 and Sacred Stone Baronial Birthday were moved from Elchenburg Castle to :
War of the Wings 300 to VanHoy Camp Ground
Sacred Stone Baronial Birthday - Optimist Farm Club in Apex, NC
They finally went live on SCORES
