The Tempore Atlantia competition held this past Crown Tourney was small but very select. Marcellus
Caposiello da Napoli enter a 16th Century Pochette, a small stringed instrument played like a violin.
The display included a wide assortment of accessories. Adaira inghean Makyswell entered a
Tudor Collar of Livery. The competition was close, but Master Marcellus emerged the victor.
Congratulations to both of these amazing artisans!

Today I taught a class in Historical Bead and Pearling through the ages for the SCA Inc. Hawkwood Baronial
Birthday XVI. OMG - I had wonderful students but I also had a special guest, THL Elspeth Grizel of Dunfort
(Jen Segrest) of Midrealm and the owner of Medievalbeads.com. I had so much fun speaking with her and
told her immediately she is my hero. We had a great dialog and I look forward to speaking with her and meeting
her in person. It is a great day!

Not only did I have reservations and Gate put my Peers husband - Adrian Alma - Lord Robert Shockley of
Avonsford was elevated to Pelican. I finally met Master Grimm (what a delight) and Mistress E and Lorelei
were there as well. Everyone made items ( I did the bycocket and it was lovely to be included in the escort
group as he was presented.)
Not only Master Robert, but Eva Boegerts (Machteld) was elevated to Pelican, Nuala was elevataed to
Pelican and Patris was elevated to Laurel. A very busy court. It was an honor to be included in his elevation
and to be a sneaky Gate Minister to sneak in guest for Eva Boegerts elevation from Middle Kingdom.
This was Eva's comment in her Thank you's.
"Catherine Yvonne King", sneaky, sneaky, sneaky........ you made sure the surprise was kept.
This was also my first time camping at a SCA event. I'll add my commentary to the blog post.
I was able to wear my new Serafina coronet and I felt so inspired.

9/15/23 Developed a new Bead Embroidery 101 version 5 with the inclusion of Gold/Silver Work which I will be
teaching at War of the Wings " Saints and Sinners. I have added it to the publications produced.
10/17-22/23 WAR OF THE WINGS 2023 - "SAINTS AND SINNERS"- Elchenburg Castle, NC
5 days of Gate and money management for a large event. I designed a new daily money and attendance
sheet for reconciling and modified it when I saw that the SCORES reservation attendance needed to be
broken out of the daily attendance to balance cash on hand. Taught on Friday Morning at 10:00 in the
A&S Outdoor pavilion - Spike in Silver purl-purl and Bead Embroidery. I had four students and what
wonderful small and large creations they made in both silver and gold. I have the details in the blog with photographs.
The project that I assisted with for the Blackhoof's of Hawkwood took First Place in the Funerary Offering.
More on that in the blog.
Finally got my "Drink the blood of my enemies" mug from Claybaby. She had one with Blue woading for
the Celts and it is mine, all mine.
10/29/23 Order of the Pearls Zoom Meeting - discuss with Sir Jonathas (Yon Tus) on how to manage the Watch List and
enter the information required for new candidates. He added a new line in the Watchlist for Websites and
Blogs. Well received class. Then discussed upcoming projects to include a Order of the Pearl Gift Basket for
her Majesty Mary Isabel for Gulf Wars - then opened the floor to Jonathan Blackbow. After much complaining
I herded the cats well. I did receive a thank you from Meistern Cian - Kingdom Seneschal that I managed the
meeting very well.

5/11/24 Hawkwood Baronial Birthday XX - Old Fort, NC. What can I say. I completed four Scrolls. I for Kingdom
and 3 for Hawkwood. I was asked to judge Arts & Sciences. Their majesties and the Order of the Pearl had
a Pop Up Polling for Heather Rumpf. Her two embroideries that were set to display were outstanding.
Philomena d'Lys and I conspired. She was awarded her Pearl at Court and I will be doing the Scroll.

5/25-26/24 Ruby Joust XII- Barony of Caer Mear in Ashland, VA. My first time at this event and even though it was hot
and humid it was a lovely event. Helga (Elza) and I hosted a Beading Solar in the A&S Hall and I was able to
teach two people Goldwork. Spent time with Eadulf in reviewing my presentation for Treaty for the A & S
Grant Orders for the known world. Got some lovely photographs, got to see my son - Anthony Curtis (LOL!)
from Richard the III. Had three Pearls elevated

was 6/21/24 and Flags and Poles lined the road. We had a simple gate as there was no charge for the event.
Had Lucrezia set up a lovely DayBoard and we had two food trucks that arrived around 10:00 am -
Raven's Fork and Bayjou Billys. Both had an incredible day and volunteered to do any SCA event in
the area. Arias took one of the best photos of me at the Gate and it is appreciated.
6/28-29/24 Inaugural Atlantian Bardic Madness - what an event and what an introduction to the Art of the Bardic.
Sandy joined me at Gate for the day and we enjoyed the competitions and gathering of artisans. Mistress
Rosalind was the founder of this unique Atlantian event and Gawain ( Colin Bulla) and Niccolina Mann were
the Autocrats . As the Principal of the Order of the Pearl, I was able to sponsor a fyt (competition) of Bards
while reliving a story and extra points were given for the use of the word "Pearl". I had lovely goody bags ready
for those that participated and fun was had by all.

7/7/2024 The Canton of Stormwall Fighter Practice and Arts and Sciences - We were going to begin with Kumihimo but
everyone wanted to return to the Garb and your Persona. A full 3 hours and very well received.

and fabric was cut with the sewing beginning. Preparing garments that we could wear at hot weather events.

( Tammy Downey Reid). Our 4th Event together. Reservationist and Gate Minister and it was a lovely event.
I belted my first Protégé - Lord Edward Perry which we did in the Woodlands. This was actually such a nice
place to do the belting.
I received the last two belts made by Sir Rodney Woods before he left our world. I had one commissioned
for Edward and one commissioned for myself in blue. "See blog". Paul and Tatiana fell in love with Edward
and invited him to camp at the Woodlands.

9/29/24 We here in the Southeast of the United States experience Hurricane Helene. Needless to say - we did not
fare well. I had to remove myself as Gate for the Coronation of lul'iana and Randall but I had a great team
that took the task and I emailed all of the forms and requirements so they could man the Gate: Thank you
Lord Edward Perry, my Protoge- Her Excellency Lucina of Southhampton - Lady Rebecca Short - and Her
Excellency Azza. I did send my legacy Opal for John's award of the Opal - and one Scroll Undine for Mistress
Jane Fox from Adehait.
10/12 to 20/2024 WAR OF THE WINGS - ALL HALLOWSTIDE XVII - Elchenburg Castle, Booneville, NC. We had from Saturday
the 12th to Saturday the 19th and this was the longest War of the Wings. I had the honor of staying at
Elspeth's cabin at the Woodlands as she had just had surgery. The weather really caught us all of guard and I
had to learn how to use a Heating Buddy real quick. Started in the morning at 7:30 am with Dame Morwenna
for the opening counts - worked through the day and did the closing counts, sometimes at 10:00 pm or sometimes
at 8:00 pm depending on the weather. (Lots more on the blog). But all in total - I had over 185 hours.
11/8-11/9/2024 GRITS WAR - a house divided - Sweet or Savory. Reservationist and Gate Minister for Annabella of the Bay's first
home shire event for the Shire of Ursus Bay. This was one of the most enjoyable small events I had been to in many
years. Veronica Yoshida (another GOof) was elevated to the Order of the Pelican. It was so darn cool. The feast
prepared by Ingegerd was absolutely marvelous. I was just a well rounded event to enjoy.
I was the reservationist and Gate Minister for this event.
12/6/2024 UNEVENT 2024 - I served with the Kingdom Exchequer for the Exchequer Information Modules and took roll.
Then transferred over to lead the "Order of the Pearl" at 11:15 am and was there to witness and attest our
wonderful Melchior was given a writ to join the Order of the Laurel. The agenda is in the blog and there was a lot
of information shared. Then on Sunday, attended the Order of the Pelican. All in all it was a very good Unevent.
12/14/2024 Nottinghill Coill - Yule Toy Tourney 2024. Retained at Court for her Majesty lul'iana which was quite delightful.
She also kept her word and gifted me her Favor. I sat with Dame Morewenna and learned how to Flat Braid on the
Kumihimo Square disk, laughed and enjoyed the event. We had a Pelican meeting as there were many present.
and was able to witness and attest to Maistre' Dreux d' Anjou take a new Apprentice and did have time to sit with
Maistre Etienne with some very good commentary.
1/11/2025 Kingdom of Atlantia Twelfth Night 2025 - Newport News, VA . I entered into the Kingdom Champion competition and was selected to represent the Kingdom at Gulf Wars. At the time - we were scheduled to go and one day after accepting the Kingdom Champion position, the travel group cancelled. But my work was presented ( see blog).

2/22/2025 Tournament of YMIR - Windmasters Hill- incredible event - this was actually vigilpalooza as there were nine
vigils with elevations to include a double Peerage (1st in Atlantia) for Esme Bramley as a Pelican and a Laurel.
The Woodlands set up a pavilion on the lyst field for the Arts and Science Champion to gather artisans together
at YMIR. It was such a wonderful day and the final court was amazing thanks to Paul Woodcutter and Tatiana
Woodcutter and the Woodlands. The fighting wasn't bad either. (See Blog)
3/2/2025 Kingdom Arts and Sciences Fair - Elvengast - Raleigh, NC
I supported Elspeth Mesberie as she displayed. Sat next to Gabriel West, which just killed me as I knew they would
be receiving (their) Pearl - met some lovely people and Pagane had a great display as well. We ate at a lovely BBQ
place and then headed back.

Did one scroll for HWBB for Coglin and Cooked with Annora and Adrian in a wonderful outdoor kitchen. My first
time in the kitchen from Set Up to partial tear down and I still have all 10 fingers. The theme was Moroccan and
it was yummy. I learned how to shred - chop and all kinds of stuff

6/1/2025 Camp Karoondinha, 225 Thomas Dam Road, Millmont, PA
Annora, Adrian and myself took a trip to PA and had two wonderful days along with the drive too and from
Pennsylvania. There were so many Needleworkers especially from Atlantia. Aethelmarc was a delightful host
for the event and the food was amazing and goodness I met some incredible folk.
Cerridwen, Mary Isobel, Toth Eva, Hagar the Black, Annora, Adrian (he taught a Blackwork class. This was my first
time and just WOW.
The display photographs are in the Blog for the event. I even got to speak about my display and everyone was engaged.
I was also asked to teach next year - "Structured Goldwork".
6/7/2025 Rumors of War - Part Deux
"RUMORS of WAR", Inter-Kingdom Fighter Practice with the Kingdom of Meridies - set up of the site
was 6/6/25 and Flags and Poles lined the road. We had a simple gate and the only Event Fees was
$10.00 for Members - $20.00 for Non Members, $5.00 for Youth and $10.00 for Camping. We had 51
Newcomers to the event and we hosted a Titan Tournament " Rapier and Heavy " for the God Pallas.
We had 7 Vendors and we had three food trucks that arrived around 10:00 am -
Raven's Fork and two new providers. Both had an incredible day and volunteered to do any SCA event in
the area. We all gathered after the Event at Guyanbitos in Bryson City, NC for a farewell dinner. On to next year.
I additionally completed two replacement Scrolls for Riobhilin O'Grada (Ila Hatters Grandson). He lost all of his scrolls
during Hurriance Helene in September 2025.
