Acoustic landscapes is a series of works exploring my life and travels on the east coast, from the North East, Humberside through Lincolnshire to the Thames Estuary.
This site presents the audio, video works, exhibitions and presentations of the acoustic landscape series of works and other art activities engaged in, including works as part of BellArtLabs.
The art works have been presented at Tate Britain, Dean Clough (Halifax), Lovebytes (Sheffield) and the Wro Festival 95 (Poland) Hull City of Culture 2018. Radiophrenia 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023, 2025 and Festival Ecos Urbanos, Mexico 2021 and more recently at the Essex International Film Festival 2025 where 'Estuary Winds' received the 'Best Experimental Film' award.
Tom has a BA Fine Art (Hons) in Film. After completing his undergraduate studies in 1983 he was part of a group of artists who formed Hull Time Based Arts - an artists collective. Over the years of its existence HTBA contributed a dynamic to the art world, impacting on many people, both artists and spectators. Tom Scott was the treasurer and committee member until the mid 90s leaving to complete an MA in Art and Design, and work with Chris Mizsak and Tony Scott under the moniker of BellArtLabs. He has lectured in multimedia, animation, audio and technology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Estuary Winds received 'Best Experimental Film' award at the Essex International Film Festival 27 - 30th March 2025.
Radiophrenia 2025 have selected Storm: 2 Hour for inclusion in their upcoming online broadcast. The schedule will commence at midnight on the 6th of April and will continue, 24 hours a day, until midnight on the 20th of April, 2025.
Essex International Film Festival 2025. Jo's Darcy Bobo scratch animation received an 'Honourable Mention' in recognition of its quality but unfortunately was not chosen for screening.
But Tom's scratch film Estuary Winds was chosen and will be screened on Saturday 29th March at the Mercury Theatre Colchester. The festival runs from March 27th-30th at various venues across Essex. Essex International Film Festival 2025. Website link
Storm: 2 Hour. October 2024. Early in 2024 one of the last storms of the winter was recorded overnight, resulting in ten hours of material and a new audio work. further info.
Tom and Simon Feather have been accepted by the Clifftown Telephone Museum which is located in a refurbished BT telephone Box, Southend. We'll be creating a site specific work exploring sedimentation and deposits in the Thames Estuary and will be presented from 17th May – 14th June 2025. Further info.
Chris has had his Denver Sluice recordings used in our Four Rivers project selected for inclusion in the Sensing Nature Exhibition at Babylon ARTS at Ely. February – 25th March 2024 further info (the audio after the first spoken segment)

Lost Things. May 2023, a new audio work, an environmental sonic response to the Lost Species art boat which lays on the boundary of the Southend and Benfleet marches near the Thames estuary.

The Cambridge Super 8 group are presenting a night of Super 8 on 11 March 2023 at Cambridge Art Space. I'll be screening two videos, Impossible and a short video about the Impossible Super 8 Scratch and Ink workshop. Further info
Just heard (November 2023) that Simon Feather's proposal to the Leigh Art Trail committee that I be accepted as a guest artist in the 2023 trail has been accepted. I'll update with dates etc... nearer the time. It means the collaboration has now become 'official'.

A number of the watercolour Thames & Humber works have been displayed in the Crowstone Gallery, 506 London Rd, Southend. From 1st November 2022.
