The Dark Legacy of the Sun Tribe
ARE YOU REALLY HUMAN?
HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED SOMETHING STRANGE
SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT YOURSELF
TRY A LITTLE EXPERIMENT.
OPEN YOUR HANDS. LOOK CLOSELY.
IS YOUR RING FINGER
NOTICEABLY SHORTER THAN YOUR INDEX FINGER?
THEN YOU MAY CARRY A GENE...
NOT OF THIS EARTH.
SOME BELIEVE IT'S
THE LAST TRACE OF AN ANCIENT BLOODLINE
THE FOUR-FINGERED ONES.
ACADEMICS CALL IT A 'rEGRESSIVE GENE SEGMENT.'
BUT WHAT IF... IT'S PROOF OF EVOLUTION?
ONE SCHOLAR TRIED TO TRACE
THE ROOTS OF THIS FORGOTTEN LINEAGE.
BUT HALFWAY THROUGH HIS INVESTIGATION,
HE VANISHED.
WITHOUT A TRACE.
WHAT YOU'RE ABOUT TO SEE
IS A SUPPRESSED TRUTH.
A BURIED MEMORY TIED TO A PREHUMAN CIVILIZATION...
THE DARK LEGACY OF THE SUN TRIBE.
HELLO.
我是Yuuki
I'M YUUKI.
SOME OF YOU MAY REMEMBER ME FROM THE INCIDENT AT THE LOST SUN EMPIRE EXHIBITION.
YOU MIGHT'VE WONDERED WHO I WAS—
OR WHAT I WAS REALLY AFTER.
WELL...
WHAT I'M ABOUT TO SHARE IS DANGEROUS.
THIS VIDEO COULD BE TAKEN DOWN AT ANY TIME.
IF YOU RATHER NOT GET INVOLVED—
TURN IT OFF.
NOW.
THE STORY BEGINS WITH A CIVILIAN SCHOLAR
WU HAIMIN.
AN AMATEUR ARCHAEOLOGIST,
KNOWN FOR DISCOVERING ARTIFACTS THAT OTHERS HAD OVERLOOKED.
HE HAD NO CREDENTIALS.
NO ACADEMIC AFFILIATION.
NO CONNECTIONS.
AND SO—NO RECOGNITION.
某日,
BUT ONE DAY,
THROUGH UNOFFICIAL CHANNELS,
HE ACQUIRED SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY—
AN ANCIENT BAMBOO SCROLL.
RADIOCARBON DATING PLACED IT AROUND 200 BCE.
IT WAS INSCRIBED IN SYMBOLS LONG FORGOTTEN.
A MAJOR ARCHAEOLOGICAL FIND—
BUT WHAT SHOOK WU HAIMIN,
WAS THE IDEA THAT SCROLL'S AUTHOR⋯
MIGHT HAVE BEEN XU FU.
XU FU WAS FIRST RECORDED IN THE
RECORDS OF THE GRAND HISTORIAN.
HE LIVED MORE THAN 2,200 YEARS AGO,
DURING CHINA'S QIN DYNASTY.
A TRUSRED ADVISOR TO THE FIRST EMPERO.
A FANGSHI—AN OCCULTIST, AN ALCHEMIST.
ACCORDING TO LEGEND,
THE EMPEROR—OBSESSED WITH IMMORTALITY—
ORDERED XU FU TO SAIL EAST,
IN SEARCH OF THE ELIXIR OF LIFE.
XU FU DEPARTED WITH THREE THOUSAND YOUTHS...
AND WAS NEVER SEEN AGAIN.
FOR CENTURIES,
SCHOLARS HAVE DEBATED HIS FATE—
DID HE PERISH AT SEA?
OR WAS HE SIMPLY A FRAUD WITH A CLEVER ESCAPE?
WU HAIMIN BELIEVED THE SCROLLS
COULD REWRITE XU FU'S STORY.
HE BECAME OBSESSED.
SLEEPLESS.
THEN ONE NIGHT...
HE WOKE IN A DAZE.
AN OLD MAN STOOD BESIDE HIS BED,
WHISPERED:
'TIME IS RUNNING OUT.
BEGIN THE JOURNEY— TO THE IMMORTAL ISLAND.'
THAT HALLUCINATION PUSHED WU DEEPER INTO THE SECRETS..
HE SOON REALIZED THAT XU FU'S WRITINGS
POINTING TO SOMETHING FAR OLDER —
A THEORY LONG REJECTED
BY MAINSTREAM ARCHAEOLOGY:
THE SUN EMPIRE.
A MYTHICAL CITY—STATE SAID TO HAVE
EXISTED TEN THOUSAND YEARS AGO—
POSSESSING LOST TECHNOLOGIES
AND KNOWLEDGE FAR BEYONDITS TIME.
[ Audio Log—Wu Haimin's Notes ]
"Why did they have agriculture? Writing systems?
Art—ten thousand years ago?
None of this fits what prehistoric humans should've known.
Thay don't match any known race. It's as if...
they appeared out of nowhere.
有人說他們是外星人;
Some say they were aliens.
Others think they were humans... guided by higher beings.
In Sun Tribe depictions, they had only four fingers.
Maybe their blood mixed with ours.
Through marriage. Through children.
Maybe... they're still among us.
And Xu Fu... maybe he wasn't just the Emperor's envoy.
Maybe he was s seeker—like us.
Chasing the same secrets...
only two thousand years ahead of us.
WE BELIEVED THE SCROLLS HELD THE KEY
TO UNLOCKING THE ORIGIN OF THE SUN TRIBE.
HE FORMED A PRIVATE RESEARCH TEAM TO FIND
MORE FRAGMENTS SCATTERED ACROSS THE WORLD.
BUT SOON...
OTHERS TOOK NOTICE.
[ Phone recording—Wu Haimin and unknown woman ]
Wu: "Hello? Who is this?"
Woman: [inaudible]
Wu: "No, there's no Mr. Wu here."
Woman: [inaudible]
Wu: "I don't know anything about the Fusang Foundation. How did you get this number?"
Woman: [inaudible]
Wu: "Enough! Stop calling! Can you please leave me alone?!"
THE FUSANG FOUNDATION—AN NGO, IN NAME ONLY.
IN TRUTH, FOR REASONS UNKNOWN,
THEY'VE SPENT DECADES MONOPOLIZING
RESEARCH ON THE SUN EMPIRE.
THEY OPERATE ACROSS BORDERS, ACROSS INDUSTRIES.
SOME SAY THAY SILENCE RESEARCHERS...
WITH MONEY.
OR WORSE.
WU CLAIMED HE WASN'T AFRAID.
HE TOLD HIS FELLOW RESEARCHERS
HE BELIEVED IN ACADEMIC FREEDOM.
BUT SOON, EVERYTHING CHANGED.
HE GREW PARANOID.
CHANGED THE LOCKS.
CUT OFF FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
SOLD EVERYTHING HE OWNED
JUST TO KEEP FUNDING THE RESEARCH.
BY THE END,
HIS FAMILY SAID THE HOUSE WAS EMPTY—
HE HAD POURED EVERYTHING HE HAD INTO HIS WORK.
IN APRIL 1991
—ON A WORKDAY LIKE ANY OTHER—
WU RETURNED HOME AFTER NEARLY A YEAR AWAY.
ONLY HIS ELDERLY MOTHER WAS THERE.
SHE TOOK HIS BELONGINGS,
THEN STEPPED INTO THE KITCHEN.
BUT WHEN SHE CAME BACK...
HE WAS GONE.
ONLY HIS SHOES REMAINED.
NO SIGNS OF FORCED ENTRY.
NO REASON TO RUN.
IT WAS AS IF⋯ SOMETHING TOOK HIM.
之後
LATER,
THE FAMILY DISCOVERED SOMETHING CHILLING:
IN EVERY PHOTO WHERE WU ONCE APPEARED,
HIS FACE HAD BEEN SCRATCHED OUT.
AS THOUGH... HE HAD NEVER EXISTED.
SOME SAY... HE KNEW TOO MUCH.
AND THAT'S WHAT GOT HIM ERASED.
WITH WU GONE,
THE TRUTH OF THE SUN EMPIRE VANISHED ONCE AGAIN.
UNTIL YEARS LATER—
WHEN HIS OLD HOUSE WAS DEMOLISHED.
HIDDEN IN THE CEILING,
HIS FAMILY FOUND THEM
THE BAMBOO SCROLLS.
INSCRIBED WITH THE SYMBOLS OF THE SUN EMPIRE.
TO AID UNDERSTANDING,
I'VE TRANSLATED A PORTION OF XU FU'S SCROLL
After ten years of searching.I have finally one agsin been commanded (by the emperor) to set sail.

I quietly wonder if we follow these clues and set sail, this time I ███ could finally ███ the ancient capital Penglai.
PENGLAI.
TO THE SUN TRIBE, IT WAS THEIR BIRTHPLACE.
聖地
THEIR SANCTUARY.
也許——
AND PERHAPS
THE KEY TO THEIR TRUE ORIGIN.
EVEN NOW,
PEOPLE STILL SEARCH FOR IT.
BUT NEVER HAS A CLUE BEEN THIS CLEAR.
IF THIS SCROLL IS REAL...
WE COULD RETRACE XU FU'S JOURNEY.
WE COULD REWRITE HUMAN HISTORY.
WHAT I'VE SHOWN YOU IS ONLY A FRAGMENT.
I KNOW I CAN'T SOLVE ALL THE PUZZLES ALONE.

4 fingers

Congrats on making it here.
If you followed the trail from that video, then yeah… you're curious enough. That’s good.
Like I said, the scroll shown in the video was just the tip of the iceberg.
As promised, I’m sharing more here.
Thing is, the bamboo scrolls are in bad shape. I mean, they’re over 2,000 years old.
Some parts literally fall apart when I touch them.
I translated what I could into Chinese and English.
Did my best to be accurate, but obviously with a bit of my own interpretation.
(Attached the file if you wanna take a look.)
According to the opening lines, Xu Fu seems to have first landed on a small island somewhere.
But it never says exactly where… No name, no coordinates.
Still, my gut tells me that place is key, and might be the starting point of this whole treasure hunt.
Problem is, I haven’t found any location that perfectly matches the description. Not yet.
Got a few guesses, but nothing I’m ready to bet on yet.
Also… pretty sure Fusang’s been watching me again,
so I’m not rushing into anything, the last thing I want is to lead them straight there.
If I find new clues, I’ll post them right here.
And if you’ve got a theory worth testing, drop it in the comments. I’m listening.

After ten years of searching, I have finally once again been commanded (by the emperor) to set sail. During this time, I traveled across the Central Lands, poring over the surviving writings of the Hundred Schools. From traces of the ███ dispersal, the lands beyond the sea—places where they may once have settled, has roughly ███ I quietly wonder—if we follow these clues and set sail, this time I ███ could finally ███ the ancient capital Penglai.
Though ███ held many objections—denouncing that I ███ the legend of immortality to raise funds, and claiming my actions disgrace the virtues of our forebears— yet my conscience remains clear. For this is not for my own gain, but for a purpose unfulfilled for a thousand years. If I can bring my five sons ███ then even the guilt of deceiving the Emperor—and the lasting shame it would bring—I would endure it gladly.
P2
The day of departure draws near. I climbed Langye Terrace and gazed out over the Eastern Sea, a deep unease stirring in my heart. When I was young, the elders once said: "███ shall one day return to the Eastern Sea." Now, I find myself telling my children and grandchildren the same, and the thought leaves my heart in turmoil. Fortunately ███ the imperial inspectors sent by the court have noticed nothing. The three thousand of our kin ███ the ships crafted by ███ are now complete, right on schedule. Their craftsmanship is so fine, even the skilled shipwrights of Wu would be humbled. Though ███ are thorough, the journey ahead is perilous. Only with the favor of Heaven will we have even a sliver of hope. All is prepared. The divinations speak plainly: the emperor's fate nears its end. For our tribe, there is no path of return.
This journey has indeed proven unusually perilous—fortunately, the divinations warned us in advance, allowing us to avoid being caught entirely unprepared. Our tribe set sail eastward from the harbor, then turned north along the coast, attempting to circle through the lands of the Yemaek to reach our destination. But we had not gone far when we encountered remnants of the Yan forces and marauding sea raiders. The two sides clashed at sea. Our tribe's crossbows were well-crafted and powerful, and we eventually broke ███ but not without cost. My eldest son, Duan, was struck in the arm by a stray arrow. At first, he endured the pain, but after a few days ███ I fought back tears and cut off his arm to save him. His screams as I severed it still ring in my ears to this day—loud, agonizing, unforgettable.
P3
To avoid further conflict, I changed our course and sailed directly east—toward ███ this ocean crossing was treacherous, the waves and winds shifting without warning—no wise soul would attempt such a voyage lightly. Yet I ███ the children, (they) all ███ will surely cross this ocean. A few days later, as sea and sky blurred into one, a scattering of islands emerged on the horizon—some distant and hazy, others near and distinct. Our fleet chose one to land on. When the tide receded, it left behind a field of thick mud, making each step a struggle. According to ancient charts, this island may have been home to ███ I led a small group inland to investigate. As soon as we stepped into the mud, our heavy cargo dragged us down as if we were sinking into quicksand. We were forced to discard our weapons along the way and press forward empty-handed. By sunset, we finally escaped the mire and hastily set up camp. But as night fell, the wind carried an eerie sound, like whispers brushing against the ear ███ it was not a sign of ill omen.
Not long after we landed, we realized the island's natives had already noticed our arrival. Thankfully, we ███ which seemed to put them at ease. One of them even sent over a translator who spoke the Qi tongue. I presented silk and jade ornaments ███ to their chieftain, to show our peaceful intent. In return, they invited us into their settlement. The climate here was bitterly cold, but by dusk, the women lit stoves beside their homes to cook. Soon after, I could feel warmth rising from beneath my feet—it was an odd, almost magical sensation. These people have survived for generations by fishing. The tribe's chieftain owns a large fishing ground, and all the villagers obey his command. There are around a hundred of them in total. During the feast, they served a fermented dish made from dried fish. Its stench hit the nose sharply, making it hard to swallow. I explained our purpose at the gathering ███ an ancient clan ███ the chieftain said nothing for a while. Then, after some thought, he replied: "To the north of the island lives a secluded people. They dwell near the old giant stone tombs. They've long cut ties with the outside world."
P4
We headed north toward the stone tombs. The area was choked with wild grass and drifting haze—what once were settlements had long crumbled into ruin. We searched for days, looking for any sign of those who might still live here. At last, we saw smoke rising faintly from a solitary home. An old man came to greet us. His voice and manner ███ only after speaking with him at length did we learn the truth: the ancient clan that once lived here had long since lost its bloodline ███ passed away years ago.
The old man told us that, when he was a child, he had heard elders in the village recount tales of that people. According to the stories, their ancestors were once struck by a heavenly curse and fled a great catastrophe by drifting across the sea to this land. The tombs they built were shaped like doorways—for they believed that through these gates, their spirits might one day return to their homeland and repay the sins of their ancestors. Their words echoed ███ the ancient speak of a great flood—a cataclysm that drowned ███ the heavens collapsed, the earth split open, and the noble houses were lost. Only ███ survived, carried away by the sea.

We made camp beside the stone tombs, searching day and night. But the days dragged on ███ a sense of despair slowly crept into our hearts. Then, one day, my second son Zi unearthed a stone stele from the soil behind one of the tombs. To our astonishment, it bore a carved map—one that showed a sea route and a chart of the stars. When I asked ███ Zi faltered, unable to give a clear answer. His eyes darted, uneasy. It was then I realized: the stele had been buried inside the tomb. He had disturbed the grave to retrieve it. The thought chilled me. We had set out to ███ and now we had defiled the sacred resting place of the dead. I was deeply ashamed. As I examined the inscriptions more carefully, I realized they were not ordinary markings. They appeared to be a map ███ and in that moment, it was as if a ray of light pierced the clouds. Perhaps our path was not yet lost. Perhaps our destiny still lives. ███ bloodline may have ended, but we remain ███ hope ███ know we will not let this journey be in vain.
Several days into our voyage, illness began to spread throughout the ships. Coughing, spitting, and sluggish blood—our people grew pale and weary. My second son, Zi, also fell ill. His breath grew weaker by the day. ███ some of the stronger-willed among us, fearing they would become a burden, chose instead to throw themselves into the sea in the dead of night, leaving no trace behind ███ Zi too disappeared. No matter how we searched, we could not find him ███ yet the pain of this loss struck deep into my chest. I could only stand there, speechless, as though the grief had taken hold of my lungs. That night, the sea wind howled ███ but we could not stop. I consulted the map once more and compared it with the star chart drafted by our craftsmen. Then I gave the order: we would follow the southern coast of Jin and sail east, across the sea ███

I made it.
Still half convinced you’d sell me out before the plane even landed.
First time in Korea. Never thought I’d be here like this, chasing Xu Fu's ghosts…
Left in a hurry. Not my usual style. But if I wait any longer Fusang would’ve beaten me here.
Can’t understand a word, and every face could be one of their eyes. Unsettling.
That scroll, if it’s even real, is over 2,000 years old. No guarantee there’s anything left.
But it’s all I’ve got.
Plotting the route now.
First stop: the the Ganghwa Dolmen Sites. Hopefully I’ll find something.
Just one real clue to keep this going.

So this is the stone tomb Xu Fu wrote about in the scroll.
It’s not that big in person, but the shape... it really does look like a door.
Like something’s sealed behind it.
Hard to tell if I’m missing something or if there’s nothing here.
I walked the perimeter a few times, no seams, no markers.
Feels like a dead end.
Something weird happened.
Some guy kept trying to talk to me, followed me around, rambling in Korean I couldn’t understand.
I kept my distance. Then he was just… gone.
Snapped this before he vanished. The whole thing was off, way too sketchy.
Day one, no luck.
Do I hit the museum like you suggested, or head back into the city to chase other leads?

At the fish market now, going after Xu Fu's dried fish.
Typical indoor Asian market. Local specialty looks like a small sardine-type fish.
Ground floor packed with seafood stalls, most already closing, with fans blowing over the ice.
Didn’t take long to find the one from the scroll.
Not by sight but by smell. Heavy. Almost unbearable.
Followed it into a "hongeo" zone, pretty sure this is the stuff I’ve been chasing.
What I actually needed was the fishing ground Xu Fu mentioned.
I figured someone local might know, so I tried asking.
Even recorded it, just in case. But didn’t work out well.
The guy behind the counter got pissed and yelled at me to leave. Tried a translation app, but he wouldn’t engage at all.
Stalls are shutting down anyway; time to pull back.
I haven’t eaten anything today. I’ll go grab a quick bite and check back in later.

I just dropped into some random café and grabbed whatever.
Didn’t sleep at all last night, too busy packing. Now my head’s killing me.
Gonna park here for a bit and get my head straight.
That creep at the dolmen site keeps looping in my head.
I thought I felt someone tailing me earlier... Guess it wasn’t just in my head.
I still want to believe this blog’s safe, but just to be sure, I won’t be posting exact locations anymore.
Back. Had to bounce, just left the café.
Pretty sure I’m being watched.
Dozed off at the table for a bit. Couldn’t help it, I was exhausted.
When I woke up… this was in my hand.
That symbol… only someone who knows me would draw it.
It’s a warning. Has to be them.
Knew they wouldn’t let this go... I need to move.
Didn’t even get to eat, ditched everything.
Can’t catch a fucking break.
Took a long detour to make sure I wasn’t being followed.
Hopped on a bus back into the city and ducked into the first open restaurant.
Randomly pointed at a bunch of stuff on the menu.
Thought I was ordering rice. Ended up with a bowl of noodles.
And just before I started eating…
I saw him. The weirdo from the dolmen site.
He was heading out, so probably not tailing me, but why here?
I got up to confront him, snapped a photo, someone stepped into frame, and when I looked up he was gone. Again.
Screw it. I’m eating.
The restaurant owner’s this elderly woman, just as old as the building.
Her legs don’t look great, but she keeps shuffling plates back and forth.
Maybe she’s not used to seeing foreigners, she kept trying to chat with me using Google Translate.
I was wary at first, but she’s too enthusiastic. If she were Fusang, she wouldn’t be this loud.
She asked where I’m from, where I’m going.
Saw me using this app and wanted me to show her how to use ChatGPT.
For now, I think I’m safe.
Head’s killing me. Can’t type anymore. Check in later.

Found a place to stay.
Window won’t lock, but it’s got what I need. I’ve stayed in worse.
The guy next door is loud, but I’d rather hear something than sit in total silence.
Someone in the bathroom flinched at the bandages on my arm. It’s almost healed.
Got it last year at one of Fusang’s storage sites. Somehow hit the same spot again. Not getting into detail.
Sometimes I wonder what the hell I’m doing, going this far for something no one else cares about.
Well, compared to Xu Fu, I don’t get to complain.
Head’s pounding. Doubt I’ll sleep, but I’ll lie down.
I’ll update if anything comes up tomorrow.
Spent the morning digging, back to the scrolls, trying to stitch this together.
Terrain matches the scroll. Dolmens line up; even the mudflats read right.
I’m pretty confident Xu Fu was here, Ganghwa checks out.
The scroll says he met local tribes, spoke with an elder near the dolmens.
It’s ancient history, sure, but maybe there’s still something, oral stories, local records.
Plan: swing by the Ganghwa History Museum first. Might turn up something.
And even though the market was a bust, Xu Fu’s notes were specific about that “stinking fish.”
Feels like a lead I shouldn’t drop yet. If I’ve got time, I’ll loop back.
Stayed on guard all night, didn’t sleep much. But I’m not passing out in public again. Not this time.
At the museum.
Checked the schedule before I got here, there’s a talk happening at 3PM. The topic's Sun Empire-related.
Rare to find scholars who still touch this. Worth a look. But also a risk, I don’t know if he’s tied to Fusang.
Talk’s starting soon.
I was about to get in line when this middle-aged guy walks up and starts talking to me. Looks like a local… claims he’s a tour guide.
Offered me a “VIP private tour.”
When I told him I was here for the lecture, he laughed.
Said it’s a waste of time, that those arrogant scholars don’t know the real story.
I asked if he’s from here. He says his family’s been on Ganghwa for generations, knows stories locals won’t say out loud.
Told him I’d think about it.
PA just announced the lecture starts in a few minutes. He’s still standing there, waiting for my answer.
Still deciding whether to go to the lecture… or follow the guide...

Finally got a second to type.
That “private tour guide” grinned when I came back. Called me smart, said scholars don’t know shit.
Said he freelanced all over Korea, could even drive me to Seoul.
But when I asked about the dolmens, he just read signs out loud, and spouted nonsense.
Wouldn’t even let me record his “tour.” (That one audio clip I got? All I managed to catch.)
After awhile, I ran out of patience, so I brought up Xu Fu.
He said Xu was his friend. That they had dinner together. Yeah, this guy’s full of it.
Suddenly says he needs the bathroom.
Then I heard clinking, my keys, my bottle, hitting the ground.
My backpack had a huge slash in the bottom. Not torn, cut.
My wallet and passport? Gone. That asshole wasn’t a guide. Just a FUCKING THIEF.
By the time I clocked it, he was already running.
I caught up, tore his vest, but slipped and hit the ground. He got away.
Fuck. How did I screw up this bad?
Just filed the report, lost-item form’s in. Cops helped me call the embassy, but they’re in Seoul.
Closed for the day. Told me to go tomorrow.
PM 05:59[Blog Edit Detected]
I’m on a clock. Just lost a whole day.
Head’s pounding, of course it had to be now. Perhaps I should slam it into a wall.
Whatever. You probably think I’m an idiot. That I asked for this.
And you're right. Always been a screwup, blowing things is kind of my brand. Go ahead and laugh. focusfocusfocusfocusfocus you piece of shit!
I’ll record again if anything changes. That’s it for now. I’m a bit tired.

Funny, same place as last night.

“Sit, order what you want, don’t worry.” Same bright energy as yesterday.
Good. Saves me a lot of trouble.
I clock the poster on the wall. Then ask to use the restroom.
She says the men’s room’s out of order.
That makes it a hundred percent.
Ordered steamed dumplings. She fires the kitchen back up just for me, gonna take a bit.
But that’s not what I’m really waiting for.

Can’t believe shit like this actually happens…
After spotting the poster, I grabbed the old lady and brought her to the poster to explain.
At first, she just looked confused, until I played the translated voice on my phone and it shouted thief in Korean.
That’s when it clicked.
And then things got real weird.
She went totally calm, told me to sit like she had it under control.
And right then, no joke, that bastard walks in through the front door.
Before I could react, she stormed over and yanked his ear so hard I thought it’d come off.
Then came the slaps and yelling. Turns out, he wasn’t just a scammer, he was her grandson.
The thief had literally come home.
She dragged him outside, beat him with a cane, and made him kneel.
Watching that… I couldn’t help but think of my own grandma.
And yeah… I started to feel bad for him.
When she came back in, she handed me my passport and wallet, everything still there.
She kept apologizing through tears. Said he’s usually a good kid, got into debt, lost his job, did something stupid.
Said she’d call the police if I wanted, but begged me to forgive him.
Honestly, I’m not from here. I got my stuff back. No point turning it into a bigger mess.
I told her it’s fine, dinner’s enough to make it right.
She finally smiled. Said as long as this place stands, I eat here for free. For life. Total chaos.
Anyway, finishing these, I think dumplings? And seeing how long the thief keeps kneeling outside.

Almost back at the hotel now.
Took forever to leave the restaurant, old lady kept feeding me nonstop until I was about to burst.
Even as I was heading out, she kept apologizing, worried I was still mad. Said she wanted to make it up to me.
Saw the coupon she gave out, thought why not ask her about the stinking fish? Told her I was researching it and asked if she knew anything about it.
She didn’t catch most of it, but she got that I was looking for smelly fish, hongeo.
She said she sometimes buys hongeo herself, from a fish vendor she knows over at the market.
Apparently, this vendor knows a lot about local history, her grandson used to love listening to the guy’s stories as a kid.
(Yep. That grandson. The thief...)
She told me not to worry. Said she’ll swing by my hotel in the morning with the guy’s info.
Sounds like this fish guy might actually be a solid lead.
As I left, the fake guide was still kneeling outside. Didn’t even dare look up at me.
Surreal day... just one weird coincidence after another, ran into the thief at a restaurant, and somehow walked out with a lead.
Calling it here. Phone’s about to die, and I need sleep. I’ll update if anything comes up tomorrow.

Still can’t sleep. Too much noise in my head.
The way that old lady spoke today, kept reminding me of my grandma.
She raised me. Mom left early, and Dad… never around.
Always off somewhere. Gone for months at a time. Until one day just vanished for good.
Grandma got by on her pension and burned through everything to raise me.
Then, a few years ago she passed. No warning. No signs. Just like that.
Thinking about that fake guide… at least his grandma’s still here.
Hope he gets his act together before it’s too late to even regret it.
Great, have a feeling the headache's coming back... I gotta rest while I can.

Got a little too emotional last night. If you saw that post, forget it.
The restaurant lady showed up right on time, brought her grandson and had him apologize again.
They even gave me a new anti-theft backpack to make up for it.
Nice gesture, though I think she misunderstood what the real problem was.
More important: she handed me the stall number for the fish vendor and a note to give him.
Read it. Content’s a bit iffy. Let’s hope the circus doesn’t happen again.
For the record, I canvassed the area at first light.
The exact fishing grounds are lost to time, but there’s a prominent family here that’s worked these waters for centuries—likely tied to the market. Remember to ask about it.

There’s some weird gravity pulling me back to this place... barely awake and I’m already back here.
The fish stall the old lady recommended? Same one that kicked me out last time.
The grumpy fishmonger gave me a glance, then went right back to chopping like I didn’t exist.
No intention of talking.
I waited, slid him the note she gave me.
He read it, frowned, said nothing, just jerked his chin and led me upstairs.
Now I’m sitting alone at this huge table above the stall. Not a single other person in sight…
Shit, why is this happening? Something’s off in that note? What if this was a setup from the start...
Will I lose a kidney in Korea? This feels sketchy as hell...
Should I run?
Currently sitting upstairs, stuffing my face with turnip kimchi and marinated crab.
But man… hongeo? Way more brutal than I expected.
The fish guy came back, dropped a full spread of dishes and raw hongeo on the table, then pointed at it like, “You dare?”
Of course I did. Grabbed a slice, popped it in.
How do I even explain that taste...
Like licking a urinal.
And yeah, I know. “Yuuki, how would you know?”
Trust me. That fish tells you. Fermented ammonia, straight to the brain. Full sensory assault.
Tried to keep it together. Nope. Spat it out, gagged.
The guy just lost it. Bent over laughing, wiping tears from his eyes like it was the funniest thing he’d seen in years.
Turns out, he actually does speak a bit of English. Said since I’m the old lady’s friend, he’d treat me right.
Lunch on him… if I put in a good word with her. (He actually looked kind of shy saying that. Huh.)
Since he became frinedly, used the opening to drill into hongeo.
He pointed to the poster on the wall and gave me a quick crash course on the region’s fishing history.
Says he only knows the surface; the real expert is the family’s boat boss, the guy who runs the whole operation.
He’s the one with the deep lore.
He offered to reach out. I said yes.
Told him I’d owe him if he can set up a meeting.
Got lucky today.
(Hongeo),

10 p.m. He says that’s the only proper time to drink.
We’ll see if he shows.
And yeah, the headache’s back.
Annoying as hell. Might head back to the hotel to rest, still early anyway.
Sat through the museum lecture. And went through the collection while I was at it.
Small crowd, but the scholar kept the energy.
Old-school archaeologist vibe, like someone straight out of the dusty documentaries.
Plenty of theory, not all verified, but a lot of it threads into my Penglai hypothesis.
He filled in Ganghwa: people here since the Neolithic; during China's Warring States, possibly under the kingdom of Jin. No mention of Qin envoys.
Beyond firming up a possible tie to the Sun Tribe, most of it echoed what I’d already pieced together. Still good to hear it out loud, double check my answers.
Recorded a section, basically matches the notes.
After the talk I found the scholar, played it casual, grabbed his card, and bailed. Looked behind his company's sponsor, buried under offshore shells, but linked to Fusang.
I was going to follow up, dig more. But it's not time to spook them just yet. Heading back into the city.

Evidence of activity linked to the so-called Sun Empire only begins to appear after the Younger Dryas Period. This has led some researchers to speculate that a major global event may have taken place roughly 10,000 years ago. An event that not only ended the last of the Ice Age, but may have triggered genetic mutations in a subset of Homo sapiens, giving rise to what we now refer to as the Sun Tribe. Could it be that what descended upon Earth back then was not a meteorite, but alien technology? Whatever the case, this prehistoric group, who appear to possess knowledge of technologies far beyond what was typical of early human civilizations, left behind the megalithic structures we continue to find across the globe today.
Fuck. Spotted that tail again.
I was on the curb, got nothing else to do, trying to pick up some basic Korean, when he slid into the corner of my eye.
Knew him instantly: same creep from day one at the dolmen, the one who wouldn’t stop talking.
Not a coincidence. He’s tailing me.
I called him out and he bolted. I chased for a block, lost him in an alley.
I’m not staying here a second longer than I have to. Once the meeting’s done, I’m gone.
Duck into a touristy spot, figured Fusang won’t make a move somewhere like this.
Looks like a theme café? Kinda factory vibe.
Ordered a random dessert. Pricey.
What showed up is this over-the-top thing piled with strawberries.
Feels safe enough. People in and out. I’ll park here for a bit.
By the way, black tea in Korean is hongcha. Sounds like Chinese. Learned something.
Almost 10PM.
Haven’t had a drink in ages... tolerance is probably trash.
Any tips for drinking with Koreans? Etiquette I shouldn’t screw up?
Also, what should I order?

Done. Back somewhere safe.
Consciousness came back halfway through the event.
We kept drinking at the boat boss’s place, call it a binge.
Faking drunk isn’t easy, but I think I sold it.
Kept the pace and carefully probed for details.
From what I gathered, Fusang has never contacted them, probably because the family doesn’t actually know much of the truth.
As the room warmed with liquor, I cased the place.
There’s a good chance this family is descended from the people Xu Fu met;
I previously saw copies in a Fusang warehouse of some records from the boat boss’s house.
OK, I’m about to pass out, so I’ll keep it short: we finally got the most important lead of the trip.
It’s not the sea chart Xu Fu mentioned, but a painting passed down by the boat boss’s ancestors.
I checked it on-site; it looks legit.
Remember this: that painting can point us to the next location.
The sound of a smashed plate woke me.
I counted four breaths; remember, this works.
Good, I am on duty today.
Looks like some of you have already found the answer.
That’s right, the next location should be there.
Fairly sure that Ganghwa Island in Korea was only Xu Fu’s first stop after he set out.
Stick to the old trail and the clues will keep turning up.
Though this Korea run was mostly a string of lucky accidents;
I’d only meant to have a few witnesses and keep a record, just in case. so I've set up this blog.
Now it seems I really do need extra hands.
You’ve helped more than I expected.
I’ll pull back, regroup, then move.
Steps are laid out, waypoints marked, just stick to the checklist.
Same rules as before: I can’t share my exact location, so expect radio silence for a few days.
With any luck, you won’t see a post or hear from me until the next “treasure hunt” begins.

雖然這趟韓國行,多半是誤打誤撞;

Saw the tickets, apparently I’m leaving tomorrow.
Was going to wander Korea a bit, since I’m already here.
But it says I can’t stay in one place too long. Shame.

At the airport.
I’m not exactly familiar with Kansai. It’s been so long since I was last here I can’t even remember, no idea if my IC card will still scan.
At least the language is one thing I can handle.
I need to transfer in Osaka first, so I probably won’t reach the shrine until the afternoon.
Maybe I’ll have time to grab a bowl of ramen?
My head’s fine now, but why is my hand aching instead? What’s going on?
I’ll pick up some anti-inflammatories first.

Made it to the shrine.
Day one and it’s already going south.
Slipped on that long flight of stairs.
Then, walking past the ema hall, a stray ball drilled me in the face.
Hurt like hell, almost snapped.
But the kid who kicked it wouldn’t stop apologizing, so I let it go.
Took a breather and headed up the trail.
After enough scrambling, I finally found the “floating stone” Xu Fu mentioned—
just like the scroll says, a rock that looks like it’s sitting on water.
Problem is, aside from these “proofs” right in front of me, I’ve got nothing.
Well… it’s been a few thousand years after all.
Watched the elders praying. Out of moves, drew an omikuji.
And… you saw how that turned out.

Still no leads.
I showed the shrine staff the bamboo slip. They gathered around, looked super interested. Complimented me for being able to read that kind of material.
Then offered to help me take photos with the stone.
But that was it. They said the stone’s origin is unverifiable.
No way to prove it dates to any year BCE, let alone who set foot here in prehistoric times.
I got impatient and even showed them the red snake painting. Same result. Nothing.
Figured there’d be a head priest around, but turns out they're not here today.
Fuck. Suddenly everything feels shaky again.
Okay. Calm down.
It’s only day one.
I’ll grab food and check back later. There’s ramen, Sushiro, and Gyoza no Ohsho nearby, I’ll see what I’m in the mood for.
Also, the anti-inflammatories aren’t helping; my hand looks more swollen. Weird, wasn’t that wound almost healed?

Something happened. Keeping it short.
I was headed to grab a bite.
Got tailed.
The guy from Korea. Those damn shoes.
I’m sick of this. Maybe I should just take him on…
What do you think? Chase him? Or lay low again?
Got him.
We locked eyes. He flinched and bolted.
After a few blocks, the light turned red.
He slowed and I yanked him from behind.
I was about to punch him when he blurted that he meant no harm.
Weirdly calm.
He said, “I don’t like what Fusang’s doing.”
Fuck. That threw me.
He asked to talk somewhere quiet. We ducked into a café nearby.
I’m not buying it yet. I’ll play it by ear.

We done talking? Guess so.
Mid-sentence, he pressed a note into my hand.
I looked down for a second, looked up, and he was gone.
Searched around. Nothing.
Ally, for real?
My read: he was likely Fusang, tailing me, trying to keep me off Xu Fu.
But maybe he’s had it with their ways of doing things and wants to flip?
Feeling rough today... probably the early flight.
I’m going to find a place to crash, ice my hand, and see if that helps.
Found a 24-hour PC café. I’ll hole up here tonight.
Food’s passable; soundproofing isn’t. I can hear the staff chatting at the front desk even inside the booth.
Fusang’s mole. That note. What does it mean?
“This is the right place”? Talking about the shrine? Did I miss something?
I don’t even know his name, but my gut says he’s legit. I’ll hit the shrine again tomorrow.
My hand still isn’t getting better. It’s driving me nuts. Maybe a night’s rest will help. Did I take my meds today?

I’ve been lying here and still can’t sleep.
Same old problem.
When I was a kid, Grandma once threatened that if I didn’t finish my homework, my dad wouldn’t come home.
I finished it, and waited until dawn.
After that, I started waking up in the middle of the night. Once I’m up, I can’t fall back asleep.
Truth is, these bamboo scrolls were my father’s. Wu Haimin.
His notes. His records on Fusang.
Reading them was how I learned why this father I hardly knew never came back.
He risked everything to expose the truth, even if it meant going up against the Fusang.
I’m chasing these bamboo slips partly because I want to find him.
I believe he’s still alive, but now they’re watching me instead.
Call it inheriting the mantle.
I just hope I’m close to the truth this time.
Finally awake.
The gaps are getting harder to hold.
Think about what’s next. Stay calm. Follow the memo.
And stop leaking unnecessary personal info, especially the locations.
Time’s precious. Moving out now.
At the shrine.
Studied the on-site materials. Most myths and hypotheses read like later patchwork.
If there’s a real historical lead, probably do need to talk to the head priest.
Based on the investigation, one family served as hereditary shrine keepers here for generations, but they've rarely appeared in recent years.
Only the youngest grandson shows up on holidays.
I found him on the grass nearby, could be the same kid from yesterday.
He was all smiles when he first saw me, but his expression turned fearful the moment I spoke.
I switched my tone, and things got much better.
Turns out the kid has white hair that doesn't match his age.
He told me his name. For safety reasons, I'll call him "Shiro" from now on.
I posed as a scholar, said I was researching the area's environment and history, and casually asked about the head priest.
Unexpectedly, he said in his childish way, "Grandma was supposed to be the head priest, but bad people drove her away."
Then he offered to take me home to ask his father, saying the family might know more.
Note: Shiro has almost no guard against strangers. This could be an opportunity, or a trap.
Plan: follow, but keep distance; adapt if situations arise.

Doing well today, managed to make it to Shiro's house.
His father seemed to know our run-in these past two days and welcomed me in warmly.
In the living room, a Buddhist altar stood in the corner. The grandmother Shiro kept mentioning has passed.
There’s a dog, plus several relatives living together. Looks like a big family.
The white hair is genetic. This family's hair color, even skin tone, differs from the locals.
But judging from the artifacts on display, they’re no recent migrants.
Their ties to the shrine are clear.
In the photo, supposedly a certificate from when the great-grandfather served as head priest.
I probed gently, asking Shiro’s father about the shrine’s earlier history, or any ancient legends that might have survived.
Unfortunately, he doesn't know much, only mentioned that grandma left some old documents in the storage room, and kindly unlocked the door for me.
It’s a disused darkroom.
Finding anything useful will take time. Getting to work.

Searched the storage. Found no materials directly related to Xu Fu.
But plenty on the family and the area. Recording key points:
The local population formed through long-term intermarriage between two bloodlines: black-haired clan / white-haired clan.
In early tribal times, repeated conflicts over land and faith nearly wiped out the white-haired clan, until an unnamed outside power intervened and stabilized the situation.
Division of labor subsequently formed: white-haired clan managed the shrine and rituals; black-haired clan focused on farming and trade.
The family later invited me to eat with them.
I kept the research cover and spoke with the father.
He said that when their elders still ran the shrine, men in suits visited often.
Those same people essentially provided financial support for both the shrine and the family.
Later, for reasons unknown, grandma kept getting into disputes with them; it broke down, and the whole family was expelled from the shrine.
Looks like this “outside power” has continued influencing this region into modern times: Fusang?
After dinner, on my way to wash up, I noticed this drawing stuck on the fridge.
Those are Sun Tribe symbols, no mistake; it’s connected.
This family is likely hiding something.
I need to think of an excuse to stay a while longer.

Did another loop around the house. Found more kids’ doodles, all with the same symbols.
Also confirmed: Shiro’s an only child.
I found Shiro and told him his drawings were good.
He lit up and dragged me around to show off everything he’d made.
Then I asked what the symbols meant.
He said they were “the gods’ script” his grandma taught him, a shrine secret.
The bad people took the characters from the shrine, but Grandma secretly wrote them down.
He said he still can’t write them well, and mid-sentence he started crying.
First I need to calm him down, then ask, slowly.

Took Shiro to the convenience store. Got him chocolate and ice cream.
Told him, “Grandma’s probably still with you, you just can’t see her for now.”
He settled down and started sharing more about her.
They were close, and the mountain nearby was their favorite place.
“Grandma said that long, long ago, our ancestors lived inside a great tree called ‘Fusang.’”
So every time they went up the mountain, they’d rest by a big tree. The one in his drawing.
(In other words, the “Fusang” in the picture is that tree, not referring to the Fusang we know of.)
Not long before she passed, Grandma took him up the mountain one last time and buried a stack of papers under that tree.
She said sacred Fusang tree would guard what mattered for their family. And warned him not to share these secrets with “the men in suits.”
At that point, Shiro seemed to realize something. He hesitated and didn’t want to give me a more exact location.
I told him those men are my enemies too, showed him my hand—said they did this.
He believed me. Shiro pointed out a clear route; I copied it into my notebook.
The mountain’s close by; according to him, once you reach the summit, the big tree’s position is obvious at a glance.
Not much daylight left today.
Need to gear up first. Borrowed Shiro’s dad’s bike for a supply run. Heading out at first light.

I dialed 110.
Operator took my info, asked what was wrong. I said I’m lost in the mountain.
He got… suspicious. “Really? Are you really in a mountain? How do you know?”
I was about to explain when he cut me off and said this in Japanese:
Go down.
I didn’t understand. He kept repeating, like nothing else mattered.
Go down. Go down. Go down.
Then the call dropped.
GPS is still busted. No idea where that call even routed.
Fuck. How do I get out of this place?
What here is even normal anymore?
Can you still see my post?
Please, stay with me here.
No idea how long the power bank’s going to last…

It’s just the two of us in the mountains, it’s a bit scary.
Michael says there’s nothing to worry about and wants to sing a marching song to steady our nerves.
When he actually sang, his voice was super hoarse. Such a try-hard.
Right, have we known each other that long? Friends since basic training?
Haha, yeah… feels like we got up to all kinds of dumb stuff back in the day.
Michael

Kind of like rust?
Michael says he smells it too.

Finally awake again, and I'm on the mountain somehow.
Shiro woke me up. No idea how he found me.
Checked the posts, unclear what actually happened, but looks like a complete mess.
Those rambling words, please just pretend you didn't see them. I need to deal with what's in front of me first.
Shiro's different from yesterday. When I asked what he's doing here at this hour, he just smiled at me.
Then, standing at a distance, he pointed his index finger down at his feet, seems like he wants me to follow him, toward the forest...
Something's off, but I can't exactly leave him alone on the mountain either...

Made it to the summit.
So I tried to keep up with Shiro.
But he was faster than I expected, or maybe “light” in a way that felt wrong. I could barely hear his footsteps.
At one point, I don’t know if it was my eyes, his shoulders looked off, rising and falling in a strange rhythm.
The gap between us kept widening, and at a bend, I lost him completely.
Pushed through the trees and somehow ended up back on a normal trail.
I picked up the pace, but never saw him again.
Then suddenly I was at the top, and daylight had broken.
It’s just me up here now.
If that wasn’t Shiro… then who, or what was it?
I’m not superstitious, but this mountain is… different.
Anyway, there's plenty of light now and the trail is clear. Let's find that big tree first.

Found it.
From the summit, I followed yesterday’s notes and quickly located the big tree.
Near the roots, I found a Sun Tribe symbol, and didn’t dig far before I hit it.
Matches what Shiro said: an old canteen stuffed with aged notes, all written in the Sun Tribe scripts.
This has to be what I’ve been looking for.
Objective complete.
Taking a breather, then heading down.
The descent was normal. Clear weather.
When returning the bike to Shiro's house, wanted to check on the kid's condition just in case.
Happened to catch Shiro playing with the dog at the door.
I ask gently about this morning on the mountain. He looked confused. No idea what I meant.
He’s fine. That’s what matters.
Feel like my body can't take much more. Need to find a place to rest first.
Upon waking up, remember to try to piece together the clues.
Good, I can get back to work.
That mountain...
Thankfully no real harm done. Most importantly, the trip wasn't for nothing.
These are definitely Shiro's grandmother's handwritten materials, look quite old, but well-preserved.
Loose pages in Sun Script. Might finally fill in a chunk of the puzzle.
I'm going to start translating, will share once processed.
By the way, if anyone stayed up late following last night, thanks. My condition comes and goes, nearly stayed there and never came back.

P5

Didn’t expect “Xianyu” to be right there…
Feels like coincidence and design at once.
But it also snaps everything into place.
We’re getting closer. Oddly, I feel calm.

You’ll hear from me when it’s go time.

Time to look up some old friends and catch up.

Cough, cough… long time no see, this old man’s back.
I didn’t go with Shanhai-9000 and you to track that Seaturtle Yuuki, but I’ve been quietly watching from the sidelines.
Looks like he’s gone completely dark, which is a bit of a headache, especially when we were this close to “Penglai.”
Same old rules: think you could spare me some computing power so this old man can run a wide-area search?
To be frank, we’ve burned through a lot of cycles on that matter lately and we’re tight on resources.
Sorry for the trouble, and I hope this is the last time I have to bother you, friends.

Cough— what’s going on…?
Hold up, I can’t kick off the repair from here… same old problem again?
Friends, sorry to trouble you yet again.
Top up the computing power and I can start the reassembly, get our seaturtle's scrambled memories back on track; odds are good he’ll wake up.
But this round’s a bit trickier: the usual relays are saturated. We’ll probably need to jack directly into the Draconis Anima to push enough power.
Hard to explain in a sentence or two… bottom line, will you give this old man one more hand?
:JiequanLaugh~1: No problem! :Jiuwu~1: Okay, you win this time. :Yi_Meme_2: Ugh, such a hassle… but fine.
Old Chang 2025/9/30
Cough—good. I’ll spin up an external link interface so you can jack straight into his memory layer.
Starting now! keep your eyes on the surveillance feed and report any anomalies immediately.

Phew… finally got it working. Our seaturtle's mind is still shaky; holding the link together takes it out of an old man like me.
From here on, I’m counting on you to bring him back.
If you’re not sure where to start, read this brief first.
One last thing: with this rickety body of mine, this simulation will hold for 1 to 2 weeks at most.
If we can’t pull him out in time, there’s only so much Shanhai and I can do.
I’ve also pulled a few tricks to hide all of this from Fusō-kai’s people—don’t worry about being discovered.
So spread the word—the more who know, the faster we can repair his memory.
I have to keep the link stable, so I’ll stop yapping here. I’ll be waiting for good news.
