Congratulations! You have successfully arrived here for your first day of online schooling! Better hurry up before the bell rings. Below you will find a list of tasks for you to accomplish.

1. For your writing self start, you will need to compose a summary of your favorite movie. To do this click the plus sign in the green box found below. This is a website called Padlet. You will be posting a lot of your writing to this site for the time being. Please remember to type your first and last name at the top of your entry so that I can give you credit! (If you can't get this to work, copy and paste it into an email to me.)

In your writing, you will need to make sure to cover all the important elements of a story summary by answering the following questions:

    • a. Who are the main characters? What are they like?
    • b. Where does the story take place? What year is it? Are we on earth? In space? A fantasy world?
    • c. What is the dilemma, problem, or challenge faced by the characters?
    • d. How do the characters initially react to the challenge or problem? How do they resolve or solve the problem?
    • e. Why does this story matter? Is there a lesson taught? Why do you think this story was told?

2. You will all need to create a new document labeled 'my new reading journal' using your office 365 account. This file will need to be placed into your literacy folder. Finally, you will need to practice labeling papers in the top right corner by labeling this journal correctly. Directions for accomplishing these tasks, as well as how to create a folder and share it with me, (In case you have not done that yet) can be found by clicking the link below called 'Technical Support.'

3. In addition to the time you already read at home, please take 30 minutes to do your literacy reading! You may also write an entry in your reading journal if you so desire. You will need to have 2 done by the end of the week!

Wow! That was fast! Day one of online literacy is finished. We wrapped up a bit early which means you have more time to read at home!!!!!
