TROOP HOLIDAY MAD LIB
I am very happy about our Girl Scout holiday party. We are having a shorts exchange and I bought black ones with beautiful animals. For snack, we are having sparkling carrots and our leaders make hot Sprite with cupcakes. We always chip in to get them a silly gift certificate. This year it’s $24 to Publix. I know they will love it!
NORTH POLE LIGHTS - DECEMBER 2022
On December 4th, girls from around the council learned about constructing simple circuits using copper tape, mini LED bulbs, and a battery at a Girl Scout STEM event. After the pathway was made and the positive and negative sides were placed, Rudolph’s nose and the Christmas tree glowed on these Christmas cards.
BOOK DRIVE - FALL 2022
Girl Scout Troop 30197 partnered with Hope, The Summer Of Service program, and Cradles To Crayons to donate books to those who need them. "There are 4 million kids across the country who can’t change their own worlds, and who need our help. Kids who need a bit of light, a bit of Hope...and that's me!" stated 16 year old Hope. "That’s why I started The Summer of Service (thesummerofservice.org), a nationwide children’s book collection drive in partnership with Cradles to Crayons (cradlestocrayons.org) a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit (All rights reserved) for these kids who deserve a chance."
30197 girls collected gently used books and nearly doubled their goal of 110 books. On November 21, 2022, they donated 209 books to the Live Oak Public Library located in Springfield, GA.
SAVANNAH SQUARE POPS - NOVEMBER 12, 2022
On November 12, girls from 30197 met the girls from Troop 431 of Deltona, FL for some Ice Pop treats and fun at Savannah Square Pops in Savannah. The girls were able to help make their own pops, have a tour of the shop, and sample several of the 22 delicious pop flavors. They learned there's a pop flavor for each of the 22 squares in Historic Savannah. As one said and all agreed, "Those pops are incredible!"
Squeezing Lemons! 3 Pops from one basic recipe! See the Honeycomb?
Chocolate Covered Cherry Kiwi on the side! Personalized Pop Stick! We chose the same one!
Waiting for more!
Pops we helped to make!
Mr. Judd is an awesome musician!
He put Troop 30197 and Troop 431 on the map!
WORLD TOILET DAY - NOVEMBER 12, 2022
In case you didn't know, November 19th is "World Toilet Day". We celebrated this day a week early on November 12th. You know it was a successful meeting when several girls say, "My favorite part was eating poop" and later, after seeing pictures from the day, a mom comments, "The girls looked so engaged… raw, pure- screen time free! Love it."
Just imagine a chocolate chip sitting in the bowl pictured below! This toilet was the "practice" toilet! These are just a few of the activities that we had today.
LETTERBOXING - NOVEMBER 5, 2022
These girls learned all about Letterboxing at The Stamper's Boutique in Rincon. Girls learned about the tools used for carving stamps and then made their own stamps! They followed the clues to find the panda stamps around the store and then wrote their own clues and hid a panda stamp for their Girl Scout sisters to find. We appreciate the support of The Stamper's Boutique owner Korin Sutherland as well as Sarah Chapman who made this day possible!
PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE - OCTOBER 23, 2022
Serving others through People Helping People.
I love seeing the girls performing acts of kindness through community service!
OCTOBER 15TH MEETING
Today was the first meeting of the new Girl Scout year. We welcomed several new girls into our troop and can't wait to get to know them better. Girls enjoyed planting pumpkin seeds in a pumpkin and meeting one of their soldiers who surprised them with a visit!
