Fall Camp with a Sister Troop
Sister Troops spent the weekend having a blast at Camp Low.
Brownies earned
Outdoor Adventurer
and
Bug badges.
They had a great time
at the pool, hiking, and
sleeping in hammocks.
Cadettes began work on their Woodworking badge.
Each level was able to practice
their meal prep and cooking skills
by having a time to serve the entire camp.
What a great experience!
These experiences not only build life skills
but also create lasting memories
for the girls.
Think Like A Citizen Scientist Journey
Our girls participated in a Citizen Scientist journey event where they learned about the invasive Chinese Tallow (Popcorn Tree) and why it needed to be removed. They learned how to locate and remove these trees and the chemicals used to eradicate them. The girls did an incredible job and removed a total of 525 trees, contributing to the betterment of our camp and the surrounding areas.
Babysitting and Pet Badgework at Angel Learning Center - August 19th
Thank you Mrs. Combs!
Girl Scout Troop 30197 extends a huge thank you to Mrs. Debbie Combs, Regional Director of Childcare of the Angel Learning Center in Savannah, for their morning of learning fun. The older girls worked on their Babysitters badge as they toured the facility guided by Combs and discussed various babysitting scenarios. They discussed kid-friendly games and snacks. The homemade balloon game where girls hit a balloon with a homemade racquet was a favorite activity.
Do you know what to do?
The older girls also helped their younger Girl Scout sister earn her Pets badge. They enjoyed playing games as they pretended to be cats and dogs. I mean, who doesn’t love getting a “doggie treat" (cookie)? They also assisted by having discussions about their pets and helping make braided dog toys from fleece strips. All of the girls agreed they would never own a spider but some were open to snakes and all agreed a bird or rabbit would be interesting to own and care for.
Girls welcomed Jasmine to their troop during this outing. Jasmine said her favorite part of the day was being a part of her new troop and meeting her new Girl Scout sisters. She has a love of animals and enjoyed working on the Pets badge. The girls left feeling ready to take on the world of babysitting as soon as they are old enough.
Jasmine says she is excited to be on this amazing journey with her new friends and we are happy to have her along with our other new girls who are joining our troop.
Effingham Girl Scouts Social - August 19th
It was a hot afternoon, but girls enjoyed sharing their love of Girl Scouts with girls in our community. New girls learned about making SWAPS, adventure trips and High Awards. Girls got a sneak peek at the upcoming Fall Product items, and there were even a few Girl Scout cookies there to taste!
Iris shared information about her Bronze Award project and we're all looking forward to trying out the recipes in her Campfire Cookbook!
They also had the opportunity to do some planting, paint rocks and shoot a bow and arrow!
Check out that arrow's flight!
Baker Lake Picnic - July 22nd
Girls enjoyed a picnic and conversations at Baker Lake and Walking Trail located in Springfield, GA. After enjoying a picnic lunch, the girls went on a mile long hike around the pond and discussed the badges they want to earn in the coming Girl Scout year. The girls also enjoyed observing the ducks and turtles!
