June 22nd

We're here... The final week of 3rd class! No one would have expected it to end this way back in September 2019 but here we are. We have missed your happy faces so much in the last 3 months but your emails, photos and work have cheered us up so much. Have a great summer and listen to our messages again from last week.

We want to say a huge thank you to the parents this week too. Your presence and help during this time has been exceptional. Well done!

Appreciation Letter to Parents

We've limited our suggested work to just a few small activities. Obviously, last week had huge booklets in English and Maths that can be continued into the summer if you wish. So just 3 short activities to complete if you wish this week.

Top 10 of Distance Learning

Just a reflection sheet on this unusual time, listing some of the feelings you've had and things you've done during the Covid-19 home learning time.

Writing

We now look forward to the future after lockdown as it gets ever closer. We want you to write about why your future is bright. That could be next year in 4th class or further in your future. You decide...

Art

Finally, some summer art. This is called PopArt. It uses common images and then fills these images with different patterns. This week, we're going to use flip-flops as we're entering our summer holidays. You can use your own patterns or use the template patterned sheet - up to you. Enjoy.

Happy Summer

We wish you all have a great summer and can't wait to see you all again in September.

Keep safe, keep healthy and keep smiling!

June 15th - 19th

Wow! It's our last full week of school in 3rd class and our last full week of one of the strangest years we have had or, hopefully, ever will have in school ever!

We want to thank you all for all the amazing work you have been sending us. It's hard to keep working at home and to stay motivated, so well done! We can't wait to see you all in August/September again and see how much you've grown and changed! It will be nearly 6 MONTHS then since you were last in school. That's crazy!

Please try and complete the Positivity Poster mentioned above this week and send to us as soon as you are done. We've already received some amazing work. Again, remember to mention if we are allowed to show your poster on the website too.

We also wanted to say a huge thank you and well done to all the parents/guardians too. This has been the most testing time for so many people with so many circumstances individual to everyone. So fitting in home-schooling and working around constant childcare hasn't been easy. Thank you.

We have individual audio messages below from each of our third class teachers. Have a listen and enjoy.

As always, use the work below as a menu and do as much as you can.

Take care and stay safe,

Mr Lyons, Ms O'Reilly, Ms McLean and Ms Peyton

Maths

Mathemagic

This week we're going to ask you to try the final chapter in our Mathemagic Books (Chapter 36). This is a revision chapter of the whole year. Please have a look at and try some of the activities on pages 171-174 of your Mathemagic books. There are some questions we won't have covered in much detail due to the Covid-19 closures. Therefore, if unsure of anything skip it and let us know anything you found very difficult at 3rdclassteachers@virginians.ie

Answers to last week's 2D shape work can also be found below.

Summer Booklet

We have attached a summer booklet below with lots of maths activities related to Summer suitable for us. These are meant to be enjoyable so again if you are stuck on anything, let us know by email or skip them.

Mental Maths

Please also continue with your Mental Maths books with Week 36, pages 107 to 109 in actual book or pages 108-110 online.

Writing

We have been blown away by writing in recent weeks. Keep sending in your writing to us at 3rdclassteachers@virginians.ie even if the writing is from a few weeks ago. We love reading your stories and seeing your wonderful imaginations take life in writing.

This week we have another image and story starter for you...

Use this image as stimulus for lots of description and begin your story with the line:

"I knew my only hope was to follow the long, ever-lasting path..."

Booklet

Similar to maths, we have a summer themed booklet with lots of fun activities to try out. Use it as a menu and continue in the weeks ahead.
