Need More Info 360 Controllers

This section is for controllers I'm still unsure about how official they are and hoping to find more info, even if it's just someone that has the same controller with more markings on it.

Transparent Controller

  • Release: Unsure

  • Made By: Microsoft

  • Estimated Manufacture Date: 2006-2009?

  • Packaged in: Unsure

  • Controller Input Colour: Grey

  • Controller Model: WKS368

Found by a user of this site. He messaged if I had more info, but unfortunately I had none to give.

He found it at a goodwill in the south Seattle, Washington area. It has 'Microsoft' written on the inside of the plastic as seen in below pics, has Microsoft on the top-trim piece, and has a very official looking retail sticker on the back. It also has the official hologram sticker. Seems unlikely to be a knockoff shell considering all of the above.

Downside, it's missing the serial sticker, which not only means it could have been tampered with(may not be the original board inside). Also means it can't be dated by using the last 3 serial digits or even a bit of a clue from seeing which part number it would have been given.

It's possible this was made for a very specific thing or person/team(maybe these were bundled with a matching transparent 360 console?). Perhaps it was them testing for a retail release?. Either way, I'm not sure, hopefully someone out there knows more and could share how this controller came about.

This sure would have been an awesome controller to see in retail though. Very reminiscent of controllers we got during N64, or even the OG Xbox days.

"Here’s a glow in the dark Xbox 360 controller made by a Chinese company called Loyalstar. Not sure if this was a pitched design to MS or 3rd party but appears to be an unreleased design. There’s no info on this that I could find besides what was on the sample tags."

I googled Loyalstar, and they made official charging stands for the Microsoft Band 2. So this makes me think they have a history of making official things for Microsoft. Perhaps they made this themselves to see if Microsoft would go for it and give them a contract to make all of them. Could be the other way around and MS had them make one as a mockup to pitch to the higher ups, etc.

With it having the black trims and shiny guide button, I would put this in the 2010+ era. The thumbsticks look like officials to me, so that's what inclines me to think of it as official in some manner vs pure knockoff. I could still be wrong. A glow in the dark controller would have been a good idea, but who knows why we never saw it make it to retail, if that's what it was meant for.
