Acts 1:12-25
Matthias Replaces Judas
12Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk[a] from the city. 13When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
15In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty) 16and said, "Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus— 17he was one of our number and shared in this ministry."
18(With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. 19Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)
20"For," said Peter, "it is written in the book of Psalms,
" 'May his place be deserted;
let there be no one to dwell in it,' and,
" 'May another take his place of leadership.' 21Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22beginning from John's baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection."
23So they proposed two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. 24Then they prayed, "Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen 25to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs." 26Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.
Acts 12:12-14
Peter Goes to John Mark's House
12 When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. 13 Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant named Rhoda came to answer the door. 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!”
2 Timothy 4:11-12
Paul Calls for John Mark
11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry.
2 Peter 3:15-16
Peter on Paul's Letters
15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
Acts 4:1-4
Peter and John Before the Sanhedrin
1 The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. 2 They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. 3 They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. 4 But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand.
The early writings of the New Testament were written by a small group of men, who knew each other...Throughout the New Testament writings we learn about these relationships (of these men) with each other, but sometimes are overlooked...More importantly they knew Jesus...In the above passages, we see that Peter after God helps him escape from jail, goes to the house of John Mark, or Mark...He was a friend of Mark's Mother, Mary, as well as John Mark...Mark would later right the Gospel According to Mark...Peter also in his own second epistle (St. Peter has two letters in the Bible), writes about Paul and his letters that were being read by the early churches, and would become part of the Bible's New Testament...Paul wrote thirteen letters that would be canonized into the Bible...Many think Paul also wrote The Book of Hebrews...
Paul when writing to his young friend Timothy, he tells him that Luke is with him, and to bring John Mark...All three men were friends...Luke wrote the Gospel According to Luke...
All of the Twelve Disciples (Judas was an original disciple who killed himself -was replaced by Matthias) of course knew each other...John would be with Peter, after Jesus ascended to heaven...They would be together and were put in jail together...John would write the Gospel According to John..
The point of all this, is that all these men either knew Jesus personally or knew about Him through the disciples...They would have been familiar with each others beliefs and each others writings...Jude and James were half brothers of Jesus... Being acquaintances, brothers, and friends and connected by Jesus, they would have more than likely wanted to read each others thoughts and beliefs about Jesus...They would have no doubt learned from each other and shared ideas, as we see similar stories, especially in the four gospels...Jesus taught about His Father, God...No one talked more about God in His life than Jesus...No one ever knew more about God than His Son, Jesus...Jesus taught each one of the writers of the New Testament books about His beliefs...These authors being together was no accident...God has a plan...Jesus was part of His plan...This group is great evidence of God...These writers all write about God, and were students of Jesus...
