2 Peter 1:12-21
The Majesty Glory of Jesus
12 So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. 13 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, 14 because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15 And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.
16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
When I read these verses written by the Disciple Simon Peter, I especially like when he writes about the Majesty of God...St. Peter writes that he and the other Disciples did not follow cleverly devised stories when they told everyone about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but in fact they were there and were eyewitnesses of His Majesty LORD Jesus Christ...The Disciples were true eyewitness of the Majesty of God...
God explains everything and can explain everything...But He doesn't always choose to tell us all things...He tried to tell Job this when He came out of the storm...Now it is a little different for some scientists...Some think that man over the next many, many years will be able to explain all things with all the equations that have come by their profession and are to come...But for believers there must be a harmony between science and faith...God created all the universe and therefore there is harmony in the One who created all things and His Creation, and those studying what He has created...After all, believers can and should believe that God has shown a part of His Being in His Creation...
So we can believe in the majesty of man or in the Majesty of God...
Many scientists have a problem with a Christian worldview...They read the Bible and have issues with one or more of the verses or chapters...But at the same time, Christians have a problem with the scientific worldview and how earth and the universe so full of beauty, fine tuning for all that was created, and the order of nature came into existence without One Lending a Hand...How can something come out of absolutely nothing?...
It sometimes seems that science and faith are fighting each other...But they are not...God created the world in a way that man would overtime understand it more and better...It maybe interesting to believe faith and science cannot coexist...But in the universe there are many underlying universal mathematical calculations and equations...So to me science and faith actually coexist together…The earth is finely tuned for mankind and the animals and the plant life and all that God created...How do we live and continue to live?...How are we sustainable?...So while God with His Infinite Mind should be able to explain all things, while we as man will struggle with our continuing finite knowledge even though we will learn more and more each generation...And as each generation passes we should be able to get closer to God if we can get science and faith to coexist in a better way...
